I have been seeing the issues with the death wobble. I haven't had that "Pleasure"... ... YET.
I have seen the posted pictures of the '08 heavier steering parts and was wondering how to go about getting Dodge to replace mine under the recall. I have 37,000 mi and still have the 7yr/100,000mi warranty.

my 07. 5 didn't apply to the recall because it already had the upgraded parts. but at 82,000 miles the ball joints were out of spec. and replaced with the heavier steering parts, under warranty not the recall.

i had no luck, if they see aftermarket parts, they will blame those. unless you can cause a death wabble they won't change anything. I ended up buying the 08 upgrade parts for around $350. i would rather install myself so i know it's done right. i hate dealers, everytime my truck has been there they screw something up on it.

If you have worn parts and if you have warranty coverage on them they can be replaced. The recall does not upgrade from the old style to the new.

It seems there is still a lot of confusion on this

YOu have to take the truck in with the complaint of a "sustained shaking in the front end and steering wheel". Also tell them that you have already adjusted the air pressure in the front tires to maximum, all tires have been balanced, and front end alignment has been checked/set, and shocks have been checked and are ok. .

After letting them know that you have already done all these checks, drop the hint that the shop that worked on if for you stated that there might be a TSB that discusses this condition in particular...

Its not a recall, its merely a TSB, and yes, they can replace it under your extended warranty IF your truck is presenting with the conditions described in the TSB letter.

Basically, you are skipping the first steps that the dealership is going to do. Granted, you actually need to check this stuff first and ensure its not causing problems.

I got mine done at 23K due to the steering wheel feeling very uneasy and the truck would not settle into the road, adding the BD steering brace helped some, then it shook on me one day while hauling 1200lbs of feed. I immediately took it to the dealership and they could not duplicate the condition. I finally talked to the I. I. C. and explained that driving it across the parking lot wasnt gonna do it, and talked them into doing the TSB.

BoB, I have put a set of free spin hubs on my truck. With you working at a dealer, do you think they would disqualify me if I was having Death Wobble issues?

Tough call... ... . if you have obvious loose parts and they are covered componets. I think most shops would try to help

Thanks Bob. I am running stock wheels and tires... . I just did the hubs for better highway MPG, Low range 2wd reverse and less wear on the front end drive components.
