I have done six brake jobs on my 01 3500 front brakes and never remember how I get the pads into the calipers please help! I am ready to take a hammer to the truck! I do many brake jobs on other Fords and Chevys but never know how to get the pads back into my DODGE calipers! Every time I get it together I have no idea how I did it.

Is the bracket into the slide pins when you slip them in?

Do a search here on TDR. Much has been posted in resent months on brake pad replacement. The best procedure was written by Jim jalag of Pacific Brake and Clutch.

When you spread open the calipers to insert the new pads, you must open the bleeder valve for that wheel. It will be necessary to bleed the brake system upon completion of your new brake pads installation.

I have looked but seen nothing to help me. I just never know how to jiggle the pads back in. I compressed the pistons and I ALWAYS get lost putting the pads back in. I have had the rear rotors and axles out, front rotors off before but I must be dyslexis on getting the pads back in.

back together. I took the slide pins out and put the pads and caliper on then put the slide pins back in. Is there a better way?

With the caliper upside down, insert the inner pad into caliper with the bottom of pad tilted outward away from the piston, with it in this position, you should be able to snap it into the piston. On the outer pad, take a screwdriver and open one of the retaining clips and slip it down over the edge of the caliper intyo the dimpled area, then you sghould be able to rotate the other end down and snap the clip over the other end. bg
