I used a Lisle 16750 Cam actuated spring compressor to remove 18 of the 24 valve springs, but I cant get the tool around the last six springs ( one near each cooling boss? ) on the 24 valve head. Is there a trick to this?? I'm stumped. Does'nt appear to be any room down the side of the spring for the jaws of the tool. Is there a different tool?

ANY help would be greatly appreciated, Thank you!

Brian.

Brian, I think that if you remove the cam handle from your tool and replace it with a bolt that threads into the handle mounting hole you'll be able to work the jaws in there because you'll be able to use the compressor full circle.

I said "think" because I'm not familiar with that Lisle number. If it's the same as the one I've used with two 6" red rubber covered handles this should work. The hole is pretty big like maybe a 7/16" thread.

Oh, KRS

I forgot to say the head is off and on my worktable. The machine shop want's the head to cut it, too. I bought some Van Haisley fire rings. The block is at the shop already and they want the head, too. I can't get the tool around the spring!

Any idea's?

Brian

The factory tool is a round plate with a center pull bolt and 4 cutouts through witch the keepers may be removed . It compresses all 4 springs at once. It should be easy enough to duplicate.
