This is such a silly situation, I can't believe that it's happened again! I just ordered a SB 3850 DD clutch, Fluidampr, etc, from Enterprise Engines. Doug just called, said the UPS man is there to pick up the parts and ship them my way... but my Visa Debit card won't go through.

I've been through this 8 times now with my bank. They say there's a $500 daily limit on the Visa card. After going around and around, signing disclaimers, writing a letter to the president of the bank and getting it notorized, I thought I had the limit removed.

However, once again, the transaction fell through today due to the bank's daily limit of $500. After much time on the phone, it looks like they absolutely will under no circumstance raise the limit higher than it is already. My bank says this is not only Commercial Bank, but reflects limits of all financial institutions.

If this is true, how do you guys buy something that is more than $500? The banks says it's not possible, but I know that can't be true.

Anyway, I guess I'm a little frustrated, but I'd already taken off Friday to do the install, and now the parts won't be here on time because of another misunderstanding...

First thing I'd do is change banks. If I run into similar problems, all it takes is a phone call to the bank and they approve the transaction. It's your money. A simple solution may be to go get a "pre-paid" Visa card from say, Walmart, and write a check for it I guess, since you can't use your debit card to pay for it. I guess, too, you could go put $500 on it today and another $500 tomorrow until you get what you need on it.

Your bank is feeding you a bunch of bull!. My bank has a $1,000 per day limit on our drivers' debit cards by my request. If they end up needing to pay for a repair or something large like that, I call the bank and they raise the limit for that one day. They do it without a bunch of hooey too.

Now, if we could get the dang gas stations to remove that silly 50-75 dollar cap for pay at the pump. They'll tell you it is the bank, It is the individual merchants that do it based on recommendations by the bank (visa, MC, ect... )

I don't use my debit card. Credit cards only.

I don't want my debit card # out there and getting stolen and someone taking my money.

me too... i only use my debit card when making a cash withdraw at the bank machine or if the place doesn't take a CC i have and i have no cash. . but almost everywhere takes visa now. . i use that grocery shopping now. amex first, but if they don't take it, then visa

Your bank can raise the limit on your debit card, they just choose not to. There is no law saying they have to, it is a courtesy service, so I would look for another bank.

but almost everywhere takes visa now

Flying J is being a pain in the butt with VISA now. If you want to use it at the big truck pumps, you have to use a "J" gift card.

You can pump as much as you want, then they use the CC to "charge" the gift card with the amount you owe, then use the gift card to pay for the fuel.

Just another time killer. #@$%! #@$%!

I don't go to Flying J any more, they haven't been the cheapest in town in over 2 years here.
