The cd player no longer works and I want to replace the radio. I have a shop
manual for the 2004 but it doesn't match the radio in my rig. Does anyone
know how to remove the face plate so I can get the radio out??? I have a 3500 quad cab, long bed, diesel. Apparently, the face plate needs to be removed, but
I don't want to have to remove the whole dash to get to the radio. Any input
would be appreciated.

Grab the center bezel, it pulls off. There are two screws holding the radio in place... disconnect the plugs and you're good.

Before you start pulling, remove the screw just above the trash bag hook(First Pic)

The second and third pics (mixed up the order) grab the trash bag hook and pull and work our finger into the space on the left side as you pull the trash bag hook side. (Hope that made sense) **YOUR CLIMATE CONTROL WIRES SHOULD HAVE ENOUGH SLACK TO ALLOW YOU TO TILT THE TOP OF THE BEZEL OUT ENOUGH TO GET TO THE RADIO BUT BE CAREFUL**

And the last two pics show the phillips head screws that hold in your radio. Also when you pull the radio out your antenna has a spring loaded connector and there is not much play in the antenna wire so it it a little tight space to work in.

I don't even think my hook comes off... just the black bezel? I'll look tonight. Keep in mind, I don't have the dual climate control do-hicky.

Thanks for the information. My radio and heater controls look different than those on the

picture. My radio is surrounded by a metal (silver) plate and the heater controls have

separate sliders for both passenger and driver. My truck may be a 2004. 5 since the dash

seems to look different. I am going to try and remove it with your directions, but if anyone

has any more info on this model it would be appreciated. I'll take a picture and post it later today.

You must have a Laramie pkg, so you have different looking trim but it's built the same I think. I don't think they really changed the dash until 06.

The dash design changed in '05. They are made similar, but I think there are less screws holding the dash together in the later models... ...

Wow one good bump in the newer trucks and does the dash fall in your lap? I have a total of 3 screws if you include the knee bolster.

I did get the radio out thanks to all your advice. Now for the replacement. I did

go to Crutchfield to look for a replacement.
