i broke my rear yoke on my truck where the u joint connects to it. i see a nut that is about 1"or bigger ,do i just take that nut off in order to get the yoke out? i need to replace it. any other tips? thanks

Yup, take that off and the yoke will pull off. It's tight, you'll need an impact gun. I'm not sure if the D70 has a crush sleeve??? I so, you need to be careful when you tighten it.

You might even need a 3/4 drive impact. I did.

Your Dana 70 does not crush sleeve but it does have fairly high torque. If you don't have a torque wrench that goes that high (or if you have a Dana 80), mark the relationship between the nut and the shaft before you remove the nut. On reassembly, tighten the nut until the lines are slighty past where they were when you marked them.

The Dana 80 torque is 450 (475?) ft-lbs, my torque wrench doesn't go that high.

If you don't have a torque wrench that goes that high, use a torque multiplier - - I'm in NE Ohio and have one. Be sure on any multiplier to figure on a 20% loss, so for 475 final set torque wrench to 140 lb
