Searched the threads for half hour (rather than go out into the rain and read the manual). Sorta like looking for the remote control for an hour rather than get up and change the channel. I have tried pushing the little N button in and every combination of transmission selection and, 2H, 4H & 4L and nothing happens. Anyone know right of and WHY? Maybe to have it towed or something?

Thanks.

My dealer (salesman anyway) tried to tell me that button was for the service dept only! I laughed at him. It clearly states in the manual that it is for recreation towing. Didn't have the heart to show him up in front of his boss so I called him and told him to read the manual. As far as being able to tell right off my head, I am sorry, can't remember how to! Just wanted to throw in a little humor for the day. :-laf

I was just figuring this out last night, what a coincidence. I thought it would be a great anti-theft procedure. Some stupid thief is unlikely to figure it out even if he is smart enough to get the truck started. He might tow it away, but he is not going to drive it away under power.

Turn off engine

Turn key back on

Step on brake

Shift to neutral for auto, or step on clutch for manual

Depress little hidden button with ink pin that is left and down by 2lo/4hi/4lo knob for 4 seconds

Red 4N light will come on and you ain't going anywhere unless someone is

towing you or you are coasting down hill.

Go thru same procedure to reverse but you only need to depress little button for 1 second and it will go back to 2lo.

Practice it a few times and you will see why a thief may have trouble with it.
