Bump the starter to get the lift pump to run with the keyless enter and go system? Someone must know. Thanks Ken Irwin

Thanks Joe, if it stalls I assume that would happen. My issue is trying to refill the two fuel filters after a filter change or God forbid I ran out of fuel. The owners manual has a procedure for this if you have a key but no guidance if you have the enter and go system.

I think if you touch the starter button twice with foot on the break the ignition will be on which should activate the fuel pump. Least that is what I will try if I am ever in that situation.

I have the plastic end "key" and if I just turn it to start for an instant, and then release the key to go back to "run," the starter continues to engage until the engine starts. So, functionally it appears to be the sme as the remote start setup, or using the setup with a button on the dash. Maybe we will have to turn the key off or otherwise shut off, not just go to "run" like the manual says.

I think I figured it out. Thanks CBari for putting me onto it. If you keep your foot off the brake and push the "ignition" button twice the truck goes through a start cycle except for engaging the starter. The preheat cycles just as if the truck was going to start and the fuel pump runs for about 20 seconds as indicated by the distinctive whirr of the pump, then turns off since the truck isn't cranking just like the 2003 did. So I think that's the way to prime it. Ken Irwin

Ken,

Thanks for posting this! I was reading through the maintenance section of the "User's Guide" the other day and was wondering the same thing myself.

Thanks Tim, the owners manual is really not very well written considering all the technology on these trucks. I'm sure I will continue to learn more about it as time goes on. The TDR is the best place to ask this type of question! Cheers Ken Irwin

Joe/Ken,

Yes, I agree. It does appear as if the "User's Guide" was written hastily, before they knew all that was going to go into the 2013. I am very happy with my truck, just a little disappointed with the documentation.
