I have the infinity system and the drivers 6x9 is out. All other speakers work fine. I pulled the door panel to check connections and all were good... speaker still dead. There's a 10-wire harness that goes to the speaker... . yes, 10 wires. I suppose I'll just pony up and buy a speaker..... hope that's it. Is there anyone that could tell me a way to check the wiring coming in just in case. I presume the black thingy that's held onto the speaker with two brass torx head screws is some sort of amp?

Had the same problem with passenger door speaker. Problem turned out to be Infinity joy stick speaker control. Radio shop indicated that this is a common problem with these radios. Mine eventually started to work again.

I had a similar speaker cutout problem on my '01 and it ended up being the big fat wiring harness plug at the driver's door had come partway loose. I also had a few other electrical gremlins at the same time and all went away after plugging the harness back in.

You will see two wires that are attached to the paper cone of the speaker. If you remove the two wires, and put your voltmeter on resistance, you should find about 8 ohms (IIRC) resistance between the two spade terminals. If the resistance is infinite (open circuit), you have a blown speaker. This could prevent the unnecessary expense of a new speaker. Nick.

I have the same problem. Everyone always thinks that I am blowing them out and I am just beginning to hear the radio. I think I will explore my door as well.

HELLO. .

I have a 98 Dodge Ram with the Infinity system,,of course the front speakers are blown.

I bought a set of INFINITY speakers but they were 4 Pin connectors an mine are 6 Pin.

Any one got any ideas on how to convert?

I had some OLD speaker an tried to jump the contacts to see if I could get to work,,but three differant wires gave me SOUND!!... Just wondering if one pin or color wire is best for hooking up to after market speakers??

THANKS

Mike
