I only cut the kids samitches. I also think that the crust is the best part. My wife always gets ticked at me, because I will make a sandwich out of the heels before I use the regular slices.
LOL, Me4osu. So you basically unload the whole sack just to get the heal on the bottom? Guess I might get ticked also depending on how well the rest of the slices survive getting shoved back in the bag! Although you probably have this down to a science now right?
As for me I am all over the map... Sometimes diagonal, sometimes square, and sometimes not at all.
When I started making my own samitches (say it that way) I quit cutting them. I still have a cousin that's 28 and he still cuts the crust off all his smitches but then again he drives a PowerJoke too.
If I am making them for me, I cut them straight across. If I am making one for my sweetie I cut them on the diagonal on the theory that that way is more stylish... That is just my 2 cents.
Cut it in half and then you have to keep track of the half not being eaten. My luck it would drop on the floor. Is easier to keep a sandwich together when whole.
I cut mine strait across, but that's only because I use round rye bread and the slices are 8" long. If I ate fluffy bread, I'd just eat the sandwich in one bite, so slicing it wouldn't be neccessary.
