The other day while testing the performance with a new lift pump installation, I revved to red line in 5th gear and then held full throttle in 6th for approximately 4 miles ( >3100 rpm's )..... just wondering how much abuse these things will take and how others have driven. I believe this is really minor compared to the heavy towing we do. Comments?

Well, I've drag raced a few passes with my Carter pusher pump installed, with the drag Comp on 5x5. DOn't know exactly how low my FP went, as I keep one eye on the tach and the other on the track. But, I have the low pressure warning light on my SPA FP gauge set at either 10 or 12 PSI - I forget the exact value, but it at least 10 PSI, and the warning light never goes off.

I don't drive real aggressive on the street, and I don't tow, so I'm of limited help I think, with your question.

Like a granny on her way to church. Yup, that's me in the slow lane. Always obey speed limit signs and I am more than willing to give right of way. Hands at 10 and 2 the whole shootin' match. Yup, that's me.

No that was me. The sticker on the drivers side back side window (right next to my TDR badge) says "I drive to fast to worry about my cholesterol". Yup that about sums it up.

:-laf Hey buddy I'm right behind you :)

With the current fuel prices the way they are, it's the speed limit for me. I can eek an extra 100 miles out of my tank at 65.

I'm the guy that Nixter passes. Speed limit everywhere. Right lane.

I don't think I've ever had mine to 3100 rpm, and certainly never held it there for any length of time. :--)

How fast was you going at 3100 in 6th? All I know is you was fling!:D I have gotten mine to @2850rpm in 6th and that is @110 mph as my speedo is off due to tires. I am the guy passing and probably cussing all of you speed limit obeyers. As far as abuse on the lift pumps don't worry bout it if you have a guage keep an eye on it if not change the fuel filter regularly so if it doesn't prime itself you know it is going bad. This is a good little test I found that works my first and only lp to go was simply getting weak when Cummins checked so I replaced it. Just my . 02 worth dshawhan

I drive Balls to the wall, 10 feet tall... 24/7/365 baby! Why have a High HP Machine, and not show it?? I get 15-17 empty, with my #10 plate cranked up to 5x5:rolleyes: ... my saying is

DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!!!!

Thought that 10-2 wasn't recommended anymore with airbags? Now they say 9-3. Wouldn't help me anyways as I usally drive with one hand on the wheel at 75 mph, the Montana speed limit.

Right hand on the wheel. Left out the window. In the hammer lane. Hammer only 1/2 way down since the price of fuel is rediculous. But I still pass most people here at 70mph. :)

I drive it like I borrowed it from a brother-in-law most of the time. I run 75+MPH everywhere I can, and as long as you slow pokes stay out of the hammer lane you won't have to worry about me herding you over! Now if they would put a shock collar on the idiots that do park in the hammer lanes... ... ...

Except for that time you put Steve St. Laurent on the trailer at the Muncie drag strip, eh Nick?:-laf Oo. That was a victory for the StockBoys!:D

Sorry Steve. ;) :D

And yes, Howard does drive it like it's his bro-in-law's. I've seen it first hand. :D

The way I drive... .....

I received an award from the city police on Wednesday night earlier this week.

"did commit the following offense"

Vehicle speed 71 Posted Speed 30

Thats right, 41 mph over the speed limit!

Spensive ticket! :--)

Yup, I'm off to Farm&Fleet to pick up aN SMV triangle for the back off the truck for when you hammerheads pass me. Pit Bull and others just make sure you maintain proper following distance for safety sake.

Dave, that was at a racetrack specifically designed for racing high-performance vehicles, I was lost and trying to return to the slow lane as quick as possible when I humiliated Steve.

I also just got the award from the local HiPo, luckily I saw him and slowed down to 87 before he clocked me. On these W. Texas back roads if the coast is clear I hold her steady around 95. BUT, I do slow down to the speed limit when other vehicles appear for saftey. I admit I drive way too fast, but when you live 20 miles from the nearest intersection, it's hard not too. BTW, 46,000 miles on my ETH/DEE, Comp, 275's, and Scotty II balls to the wall and no problems yet.
