How do you guys support a pro team?

Do you buy their merchandise?

Do you pay taxes?

Do you live at home, rarely, if ever go to a game, not pay taxes, but talk about them only when they are winning?

While we are on this subject, what really is "on topic"? If someone posts a topic about the mariners, and posts that they don't need griffey, a-rod, etc, does that not open the door for other opinions on the mariners? Is it off-topic if someone disagrees with your opinion? Was the original statement not a political one with the inclusion of the ex-players names?

We disagree all of the time on this board. That is what makes it better. I post something, and the next guy says: No, I have a better idea. Then the next guy says: Don't forget about this option, etc, etc.

Support for your choice of pro teams is much more than lip service. Some give it, others do not.

How many of you out there would like to vote down new taxes for a stadium, TWICE, but have the state government do it anyway? You can bet I did not vote for them!

Joesoot... I don't blame ya for that kind of support... seats behind homeplate, up a few hundred rows... about 5,000 dollars for the season!

If ya go up a few, where they bring your food to your seat... add 5 dollars per game(does not include the food!)

If we are not talking politics and money and everything else(other thread), why do we call him PAYROD !!!!

I don't. I'd rather go do something fun. The best day to go ride my dirt bike is Superbowl Sunday. Haven't watched a pro sports event on TV in probably 5 years. I won't spend my money to go to an event either - the ticket prices are absolutely ridiculous. I'd much rather go to a college or high school game.

Yep... and at 5,000 dollars a year, thats almost Ram payments! Its no wonder people have to go in as partners on tickets.

Of course, if someone wanted to pay for or give(not that this has happened to anyone we know and love!!???) me a brand new Ram, I could... nah, too many other more important things!

Well now that I have gotten over being pi$$ed off at the government, I go to 1-2 Mariner games a year. Thats about my limit. Too many other things we like to do. We sit up in the nose bleed section. Not bad seats. Way nicer that in the King Done. Couldnt get me to pay the season ticket price. Nor opt for those outrageous seats. Of couse if you know someone giving them away... .

two view seats $30

parking $15

junk food $30

total per $75

Another interesting one is the Wed. night famaily 4 pack. 4 view seats, 4 hotdogs and 4 pops, $45. Supposed to be an $85 value. Too bad there are no more 4 seats together on Wed evenings for the rest of the season.

For me sports are just the same as sex; if I can't play, I don't care to watch other people play!

WTF is this supposed to mean?

I saw this in the other topic, and I am sure it was directed at me... Well, what's it supposed to mean? And what is the "not pay taxes" thing all about? C'mon Rob, explain...

Evan, I thought this was directed at me. I thought it was better just to ignore but since you spoke up I'll throw in my hat.

What are you really trying to say Rob?

I agree that topics get better with other peoples opinions, but when they start out as one point and do a 180 degree turn and end up totally changing the subject and attacking other people that's when I think that "WE" go to far.

I don't live in Seattle, but I do go to Mariners, Sonics, Seahawk, Opera... ..... Yeah I eat in Seattle and stay at the Hotels occasionally. Sure my house taxes don't go to for Safeco, but everyone that... ... ... ... what the heck am I saying . This is starting to get like the othe thread. I'm outta here.:mad:

How 'bout those MARINERS!!! :D

Evan and beamn...

Its supposed to mean that its easy to stand back when the mariners are winning and say that they are "our" team, its also easy to say that you support them. I support a lot of things... American Cancer Society is one. When our great governor taxes us against our will(twice voted down) I will do nothing more to support that team. I don't like them. I don't like the governor.

Beamn... I understand you pay taxes... most homeowners do, and I am glad to see you go downtown... I was just there watching Gypsy Rose Lee. (not worth it, though... )

That post was partly aimed at you, Beamn, for saying I was off-topic... I really wasn't... you said how about the mariners... I responded about the mariners. You mentioned the "payRod", I mentioned the new stadium. Off-topic? I don't think so. A different idea or opinion on the same topic... Yep.

The rest of the post was aimed at evan. I do not know of one time in the two+ years I have known him that he has ever mentioned going to a game, using a taxi, renting a hotel room, buying their products, or any other type of support. I was then called a pessimist. I am not a pessimist, I just flat don't like the mariners due to our state government. Evan... maybe when you grow some wings, move out on your own, and have to pay some of these fees and taxes as you work every darn day of the rest of your life, you will understand and I won't have to explain it.

Merryman... too funny!

Hey,

My neighbor gave the wife and I two Mariners tickets for this last saturdays game. Our seats were on the third base side 16 rows up, great seats. We would have never went into the ballpark otherwise. I did not agree with them cramming this down our throat. I feel we lost a great amount of diversified activities that went along with the Dome. Its gone and so is there revenue. This is all about money. Who has it and who is willing to sell us out for it. WOW I feel better now. I can't wait to get this cast off.

Boy... ... this thread has a few more laps under its belt than I know about !!! (and am afraid to ask)

A team of pros is after the same thing as a team of cons... ... ... ...

Money.

Sorry. But it's true. I fear that the three major team sports (baseball, basketball, and football) are destined to the crapper because of... ... ..... see above.

Shiny side up. Joe

Glad I dont know what all the bickering's about, but down here we're in the middle of a big stadium debate: Tampa built a new, state-of-the-art football stadium and floated a bond that the county will pay back with a sales tax... . why should non-fans like me have to pay for a stadium we will never set foot in? The Buccaneers' owners dont even live in town, and are scamming Hillsbourogh County royally!! Now, the same thing is happening in Miami... the baseball team doesnt want to play without a new stadium, no neighborhood wants it , and the team owners expect the people or the state to pay for it!! I say, if the teams are making all the big sallaries, let them pay for a place to play... it's just a game, afterall.

Never know what's on the bottom of your shoe.....

except twenty dollar bills !!! Never seen them there, how 'bout y'all?

Cheers:)Joe

Games

Popa Joe... . You are too funny sometimes, but truly see the light of day in how and why the games are played.

Dave;)

I think the point here is where do the politicians get off doing something the people vote down. We have the same problem in OR. We vote for something and if they do not like the results they reword it to fool us. Then if that does not work they just do it anyway. i. e. Fuel taxes, DR assist Suicide has been in courts since it was passed. We have voted on these subjects for years and you always expect to see it again. We just recently voted down a school levy in Redmond because of poor use of funds and they are going to revote on it again.

WhAAAAATTTTSSSSS UUUUUPPPPPPPP with this.
