Competition Go, Kat!!!!!!!!

Competition Testing slips -

Finally got back into the 15's again this weekend in St. Louis (was in the 15's first time out this year and couldn't get back there since) - best was a 15. 929 @ 88. 38 mph (launching in 2wd). I had a run that was on it's way to a 15. 7 but it was during the eliminations and I was dialed in at 16. 1 so I slammed on the brakes at the end and went through the traps at 16. 104 (!) @ 74 mph and won the round. For a great video that Eric took of me doing a burnout there check out http://gltdr.org/videos/stevesburn.avi

I ran a....

15. 47 @ 85. 85MPH this run should have been faster, but my dumb a$$ forgot to turn off the speed limiter.

my next best was at Steve's door handles, I ran a 15. 59 @ (hold on) 93. 32 MPH. it burned out a little :D

P. S. Steve and Eric, I had a great time this weekend, and look forward to seeing you next time. with a new clutch. :D

I am also at around 15. 8 at 89 mph. 60 foot times are what killed me I belive. Around 2. 9 seconds  Also did not have the top end power, must be the stock turbo! I see from turbonatr's post he ran a 15. 06 @ 87mph. I was 2 mph faster, but . 7 seconds slower. I that just because of my weight? 7200lbs, 3. 54 gears and 285/75/16 tires? Just trying to figure out whats up.

You should be faster than that with an auto and those mph's. My 60 ft times are 2. 4 when running in the 15. 9 range (had a 2. 3 but that was the run I hit the brakes on - should have been a 15. 7 run it looked like). What was your launch technique (boost and rpm)? I and several others estimate that auto's should have nearly a second advantage in ET but roughly the same MPH numbers - yours are both the same, launch technique could affect that. I weigh 7400 lbs at race weight with me in the truck, BTW.

-Steve

4-6 lbs boost is what I leave with. Not sure about rpm's but no more than 1500. No wheelspin most of the time. Shifting at around 3000. (GSK) I only made 2 runs and they were done with a vericom. To much snow right now to go and check again. It will keep me thinking all winter and I might come up with a 15-20 lbs of boost in 4WD launch!  That will fix that pesky 60 foot time. :D

One question, are 14's possible with the right driving technique?

I leave in 4WD, otherwise, the tires go up in smoke for about 300 feet even from a dead idle launch. In 4WD, my truck will run 1. 90-1. 91 60ft. all day long. There was also a 20mph head wind the day I ran that 15. 06 at 87mph, which explains the slightly low trap speed, not to mention my stock converter was screaming for help!:D The proper torque converter and valve body will no doubt put me over 90mph.

If you want a good ET... . get those 60-ft. times down. Shave a tenth off the 60' and you can get upwards of 3-tenths on the ET.

MPH in the 1/4 is a good indicator of power, but it takes traction to make the ET..... which is why one car may run a 10. 97@125 and another may run 12. 32@127... it's all in the traction.

As of Nov 11th

13. 60 E/T

99. 28 MPH

I want 13. 5 and 100mph.

Discovered a traction problem even when using 4 wheel drive... .

Going To Slicks

Anybody got a faster time then 13. 1... ... on street tires... ... 2wd???

I'm converting to slicks now. It is futile to try to get quicker since I can't get it hooked up with 2wd.

I imagine with a dually and the right backspacing on the rear rims... you could fit some really fat slicks.

Get 'em good and hot and let her rip.

Matt

14. 59 @ 91. 96 mph done in west Texas at Penwell race track. People laughing at us, until we started running. Then not laughing anymore, doing this:eek:

WAYNE,

Time for some slicks and/or other traction helpers like ladder bars, etc..... make that 60' come down to a 1. 8 or a 1. 9 and you'll get a much better ET...

My $. 02 worth,

Matt

New times as of 11-28-01

14. 37 @ 94. 30 mph with a 2. 16 60ft.

With the new power , ladder bars may be just what the truck needs.
