5'er floor plan - front living

A buddy of mine put about a 3' scrape in his motorhome that actually broke the gelcoat and tore a nice clean scrape. To have it done right - can anybody give me a ballpark amount one could expect? He was borrowing the vehicle and wants to get it fixed before he takes it back - father-in-law... .

I have very limited experience with gel coat repair, but I'd have to say it cant be repaired to the point that nobody (father in law) will not know it's been done.

Like I said, I aint no expert though... :(

Tell him to try a boat place if youre near water. I'm about 8 miles from the ocean, lots of places that might be up to the task here.

Most cases its probably a thin sheet of fiberglass over a bonded wood or dense foam panel. Kind of like a counter top is made.

Ask the local RV shop what Auto body shop they use for RV repairs. (not sure I would let the RV shop do it)

I scraped the side of my 5er (smooth fiberglass side) on a post in a fuel station in Marysville, about 3' long and a foot high. l

The RV dealer-recommended place said $1,500 to *try* to put in a replacement sheet and fair it in to make it look like it hadn't happened. But there were no guarantees and they were doubtful they could do it.

Since it was between a storage bin and the heater, I chose to have them put in the new piece and then put a visible seam horizontally where new meets old. The seam runs from the bin to the heater. If you didn't know it, you'd think it belongs there. They also had to replace the bottom seal along the side. Cost - $900.

Fiber repair ain't cheap.
