Nissan Titan HD Diesel on the way

This PSD owner thought- probably can't machine this right side rotor with that big crack and all the metal scoring, I said nope- needs a new one.

Then we walked around the other side and took a look at the left one OMG

Yes... . thats the rotor it hasn't been removed yet. Just a thin strip left on the outer surface. inner surface and cooling fins long gone and he didn't hear a thing.

Funny thing...

My Dad did the same thing to his '01 Duramax, on the rear axle, both sides.

Something didn't feel right when I hit the brakes,, and it definatly didn't look right when we took the tires off and the discs were seperate from the hubs!

Preventive Maintainence is not at the top of the list for some people...

I drive a lot. A LOT. I go through multiple sets of pads a year. One time. It didnt make any noise. Not a peep. No squeel. No grind. Nuthin. I was halfway through the rotor and noticed my brake fluid was getting low. As the pads wear the fluid drops. I was quite suprised.

My buddy calls me one day. Says he wants my help changine his brakes. Thinks they are due. He asks me to move it for him as the noise is unbearable. Picture fingernail on chalkboard. I was just pulling it a couple blocks to my shop. There was no friction material left on either pad and they suddenly popped out of the caliper. No ebrake with an auto. I looked at him apoligetically as the piston contacted the rotor. Two rotors a set of pads and a caliper. Spensive.
