Tire Temps measured

3/4 ton shortbed

Thought I would post a couple pictures of my trailer turned as tight as it can before it hits the cab without sliding the hitch back. I had to try to get it this tight. I can manuver it around my driveway without having to slide and also make a pretty tight u-turn at the end of the street in the circle. If I was doing it again I would not bother with the slide.

just had my reese installed today.

going right now to look at our oldie but a goodie 93 wilderness 5vr.

Hope it clears enuff to get it back in the shed.

Yours looks good.

It's the reverse jack-knife that will get you. When I had my SWB, I could not hit the cab going forward with the wheel lock to lock.

Now try that with a 5. 5 foot bed, with my sleeper cab I am afraid of making a tight turn with the hitch slid forward. Its not really a problem when slid back. It was $430 to buy the Reese/Drawtite slider to convert my Reese 15k hitch over to a slider hitch. I am still considering buying a longer hitch box. If I do that then when fully turned, I would expect to have the front of the fifth wheel come up next to and outside of the cab at a full 90 degree jack knife.

Depends on your needs I have a driveway that I back into with our fifth wheel van trailer that when I cut it it is about 100-105 degree turn and still have a few degrees left before it would hit.

Friend had a short box Ford Dually (yeah I know real rare) that he popped the rear window out of twice on inclines. Just another angle to think about with close hitch pin to rear window.

Sooner or later.

Its just ,when ,not if you will hit the cab ,time will tell. Slide or long bed,aether way will keep you from hitting the cab. Extended pin box lets you hit the cab closer to the front of the truck . But still hit it . Ron Bissett in Metro Louisville KY :-{}

my 36' 5th with a 10" kingpin extension, makes me able to do like a 80 deg turn... my trailer is a 3 axle and 12K on them so I Wouldn't WANT to do any sharper turns on it...

My SB and regular hitch works just fine...
