We haven't done this on the site in a long long time. I just went to TST last week and changed out my original Powermax for a Powermax3 and am having the time of my life again - I can't believe how fast my truck is! Here's my times, let's compare (7300 lbs, see my signature for the truck stats):

40-60 3
60-80 4. 2
0-60 9. 2

The 40-60 (4th gear) and 60-80 (5th gear) tests were done starting below that speed and going full throttle, starting the timer as I reached the start speed and stopping at the end speed.

I just went out and made two runs of everything. Posted times are avg.

0-60... ... 7. 0 seconds
40-60..... 3. 2 seconds
60-80..... 4. 1 seconds

My second 0-60 time was 6. 9. I can't believe I finally got into the 6's. All runs were made with the TC unlocked for its own safety. I'm sure I could reduce the times with a lockup switch, but I know from experience that it's not worth the damage.

My old '94 did 1 run from 5 to 60 in just under 7 seconds. I couldn't get a good standing start, either it would lag too much in 3rd over (US Gear) or it would smoke the tires in 3rd direct. I did the rolling start in 3rd over and made 1 shift to 4th over. Truck weighed about 6,700 lbs.

I tried a 0-60 in 4wd, little wheelspin at the start, but having to shift twice killed me, a little over 10 seconds.

These tests were done with 175,000 on the odo too. I miss that truck!

40-60 a while
60-80 a little better
0-60 several ions
FYI My Dad has a 1st gen with 4. 10 gears. If you start at 35 in high gear, that sucker really rocks!! I think it it'll out run me in this event. Of course, it stops at 75 mph like it hit a brick wall. #ad

Come on guys. Don't let HVAC scare you all off. I would love to get an idea on what a stock dodge would do along with everyone in between. This is one of the best ways to compare how well different setups work together. It helps us sort out the marketing hype from the performance artists. We can learn a great deal from threads like this. Be sure to include your elevation and list of mods.

Like Strick9 said, don't let me discourage you. I'm just messin around #ad
Actually, I would like to encourage you folks to improve the performace of your trucks knowing what can be done.

I plan to go with a (DTT) auto transmission soon so
fasten your seat belts. Stay tuned to this station. More good performance stuff to come!

Once HVAC gets hooked up with a BOMBed Auto he may have to go lookin' for funny cars to compete with #ad

I played around with launching in 3rd gear today and I think I should be able to get it down - it's a little tricky. I was able to do a couple of 0-60 runs in the 8. 5-8. 6 range!!

I hooked up a g-tech pro today and did some more testing. I can get a slightly better time launching in 2nd over 3rd (. 2 better) - I was expecting it to be the opposite but I just can't get the clutch out fast enough in 3rd. The average of 5 runs came out to 376 hp and the average of 5 1/4 mi runs came out to 16. 3@92. 8 mph (starting in 2nd) - 16. 48@88. 9 mph was the best starting in 3rd. The g-techs readings were very close when I compared them to my dragstrip performance the last time, if anything they were slightly slow. I can't get the 0-60 function to work for some reason. I did discover a chink in my 1/4 mile armor - the non-competition version of the powermax3 (what I have) starts defueling at 2700 rpm (83 mph), well I hit that about a second before the end of the 1/4 mile. So it feels like I'm coasting at the end of the quarter. I'm going to try to get my box reprogrammed so it doesn't defuel until at least 3000. If that isn't possible I guess I'll be buying the competition version of the box, of course then I'll need taller rear gears because I'll be hitting the pump governer - sheesh, will it ever stop!?!?!?! ROTFLMAO

Steve, I appreciate your postings on this subject as I've wondered my self if starting out in 3rd wouldn't be better than 2nd. Isn't Joe's clutch wonderful? You'd toast any other clutch trying these experiments. Thanks!!

There are a few other clutches that could take that kind of abuse but not many!! I was very impressed that it held up. On the EGT's they are VERY high - at the end of the quarter mile it has the needle pegged at 1500 degrees for about a half second - I estimate it's around 1550 degrees at the end of the quarter mile. I'll know better when I get the new version of the PM3 that will have a digital EGT gauge right on it (should be any day now). On the dyno it hit 1800 degrees on a run with the competition version of the box - we made that a VERY short run! The manifold was just starting to glow a little red so not much heat had transferred yet. The higher levels of the box are definately for short bursts of acceleration only - I plan on towing with it on level 3 or 4 which is around where my old box was and it hit a max EGT of 1250 on the street and 1300 on the dyno. I should have a custom box soon that won't defuel until 3200 rpm so I'm hoping for a 15 second quarter!! #ad

I managed to get 11. 2 secs 0-60 with my stock truck. Launching in 2nd at 3000rpm. With 3000 lbs attatched it droped to a terrable 14. 2!!!!!Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo.
