Your recommended speed is usually around 50 mph in 4-Hi on snow. In reality, is comes down to how much nerve you have in those conditions ;)

You should use 4wd in the snow as fast as you would be comfortable driving in 2wd. It's usually recommended to stay at or below 55, but that's also just common sense, IMO. If it's slippery enough to "need" 4wd, it's slippery enough to slow down to a reasonably safe speed. Think "How much longer will it take to stop on this surface" and try to adjust so you'll still be able to stop in a decent distance if necessary.

Some guys travel 100+mph in 4hi down the track with no problems.

I agree. . Mine has made many passes down the track in 4 high. So far, it's holding together.

Generally speaking however, in snow conditions, as long as you are not running on dry roads for extended periods of time, you should be fine.

I may get jumped on for this one - but its not a mechanical limitation of the driveline that determines how fast - the front shaft turns anyway in 2WD. Its a practical limitation of how fast you want a 7000 lb hockey puck to go on greased owl**** when you gotta gotta get it stopped too!!!
