You actually don't have to remove the fuel filter housing to get to the lift pump. I always remove them laying on top of the engine and reaching down to the pump and there's room for me to get my arms back there to remove the nuts and the fittings.
Remove the banjo that goes into the fuel filter from the pump, then you can take the short line from the pump to the filter off with the pump. Once you have it off, you can move it to the new pump. It's much easier to get to the fitting on the filter housing than it is to reach down and get the banjo that comes out of the pump.
Word of warning, if the lift pump has never been off that truck before, they put plenty of Loc-tite on the mounting bolts at the factory. They might not actually break loose and will probably cause the studs to back out of the pump. If this happens, there is a nut under the mounting plate and above the pump that you can grab to break it loose.
