My re-0880 just came in and was wondering what you guys use and feel is best to use in the filter to clamp against. I've seen everything from abs plastic to 4" exhaust pipe. What is the best in your opinions? Also what is the best length to cut the piece? Please, all of you K&N bashers out there, don't try to talk me out of it, I've been using K&N for over a year now, I just decided to scrap the airbox!

All you need is a piece of 4" exhaust tubing about 1 inch long. I don't much care for K&N's but I am going to try an 0880 with a pre filter and see how it works out. If nothing else it will look cool and free up some space for propane. Opps I hope Joe doesn't see that. lol Another Opps spoted you might want to redo your signature the last line isn't going to work anymore Snyder.

I think the 4" exhaust pipe is the best if you can find it,most regular muffler shops don't have it,you will need to go to a truck shop. The abs will work fine also. ABS will take more heat than PVC so stick with abs. What ever you use make sure it is burr free,it will be on the clean side of your filter. Nothing wrong with a K&N in my book.

I just cut a 1. 5 inch long piece off a 4 inch exhaust pipe with my chop saw. If you don't have any 4 inch pipe laying around, you could probably get a short piece like that for free from a muffler shop. Or if you are really desperate, just take a sawzall or even a hacksaw and cut off an inch or so off the tip of your exhaust pipe. The tip is 4 inch on the CTD Dodges. And if you slant the cut, you might even gain some hp. I heard the PSD gained 1 hp by slanting the tip of the exhaust. LOL.

BPINE, are you telling me 8 1/2" lift, 37" tires, more chrome than a shopping cart, VA box, and straight piping isn't stock. Hmmm, I knew that K&N filter was overboard!!LOL!!

How are you guys holding the K&N 0880 in place or is it just laying where the stock air box used to be.

I used an piece of 4" exhaust pipe I had. I just stuck it in the K&N till it would not go in and then chopped it off right there. It was about 1 1/2 inches.

My K&N is just sitting on the end of the hose right now, with the other end stuck against the fire wall... . has to be something better... but that will do for now. Sounds great... but I had to put the silencer ring back in... .

I could not find a shop with 4" pipe, so I used a soup can. The inside was already enamled, so I just primed the outside. Problem is I had to eat all of that soup before I could put my filter on.

I added my RE-0880 about 2 weeks ago, also am using the pre-filter. I used a 1 1/2" long piece of ABS pipe. Seems to be working fine. I check the filter every weekend to make sure it isn't leaking, or having any other problems. I also removed the silencer ring about a week after installation of the K&N, and I personally love the sound #ad
I just let the filter rest against the cowl. Eventually, later this year, I will likely be going full Psychotty, as I am getting ready to drop some serious BOMBs on Godzilla.
