Just wondering how long the group would wait to bomb their new truck? I have had my '04. 5 for 11 days and the TST in my closet is burning a hole through the wall. :D :D

I know it's not broken in yet. It's only got 1440 miles on it. But I want to play badly!! I didn't bomb the '02 I had so it's killing me to wait. :-laf

I had chip, intake and exh. within about 800 miles. I would have done it sooner but the TST for the 600's wasnt quite ready yet.

mattymac,

We may cross paths in the near future. :) I grew up in and around Pleasant Grove,CA. I get out your way once in a while with my dad when we run to Yuba City area for parts.

Three months and 7200 miles. My first diesel and I swore I would not void the warranty until it was at least a year old. At least I am going conservative to start with. aFe Magnum Force Stage II intake with Torque Tube. Predator Stage II Fuel/Boost box. These go on Saturday. I haven't made up my mind on exhaust upgrade yet, either AeroTurbine 4040 or MBRP Cat back.

If that does not get me in low 15s 1/4 mile then it will be 5" Turbo back, TST, new Turbo and Injectors.

Oh well it's still under warranty until Saturday.

If I were to do it again, I would pull over about two blocks from the dealer after taking ownership and do it on the side of the road... Oo.

Anyone in the Reno area want to help me install it? I really don't like working on electrical stuff and have no clue how to install the EGT probe. I'll buy the "refreshments"...

I'll be glad to help!

I'm busy Saturday, I plan to have a hangover on Sunday, so how does Sunday sound?

Thanks RankRam!!!!! Bummer though! I have plans with the family on Saturday and Sunday. I wasn't expecting a response that fast. How about next weekend?

I'll get back to ya with a pm. I have family coming in next week.

I think I can get away long enough to at least do the drilling and tapping though.

I'll let you know by this Sunday night.

Sounds good. Let me know what tools we will need and I'll see if I have them. I do not have any taps though.

I also can wait a couple more weeks too. Let me know when it's convenient for you.

I tried to pm ya and it shows an error and can't send????

Damn subscription ran out! I just renewed so no I'm back in. Just got the "post card" a couple days ago.

Anyway, I just ordered an ATS manifold. Should be here by the end of this week. Doesn't it come pre-drilled and tapped for an EGT probe? Thanks. Mark.

The ATS manifold has a place that you just have to drill out and tap for the probe. I installed one of these a couple months back as well. One very important thing I learned. Install the nuts for the bolts through the turbo flange FIRST! I mistakenly installed the manifold and tightened it to the block first. Then I realized that the bolt towards the front passenger corner didn't leave enough clearance to slide the nut onto the bolt. So, for now I am still running with 3 nuts for 4 bolts. One of these days, I will pop it back off and add the 4th nut. No leaks so far at least. I can't tell if there is any improvement over the stock manifold since I didn't have the gauges installed before this went in.

... how long do you want your warranty?

After that; bombs away.

My personol opinion (so ignore it!) is to wait until you know you have a solid (not a lemon) truck; then go for it!

I don't owe that much on the truck, so I'm not as worried about the warranty as I used to be. That doesn't mean I'm going to beat the crap out of it and expect DC to fix it when it breaks. I'm pretty confident that I don't have a lemon too. I don't have any of the mileage issue's other folks have and I think it's going to be every bit as good (or better) than the '02 I had before.
