I've posted this before but will do it again. I changed my oil 3 times up to 18k using dino oil then switched to Amsoil, I use a the bypass filter setup. I change my full flow filter every 8 k, and my bypass filter every 24k. I changed my oil at 88k because of a malfunction in my air box. The oil analysis caught that I had a high silicon level. The chemistry on the oil was ok to continue using but I dumped it because of the dirt in the oil. I am up to 120k on the truck and have not changed the oil since. Like amsoilman I also have gone well over 100k on the same oil. If you change your filters and keep up with your oil analysis, there is no need to change your oil that often. If you aren't comfortable doing that, fine, but it does work. I've gone over 500,000 miles in my last two Dodge trucks to this point with 0 engine problems. Works for me.

15,000 miles between changes with Synthetic Rotella.

You can get your oil tested on the spot at many semi oil change places (such as speedco)

On my first CDT (91 1/2) I had by-pass filter as well as 15W-40 AMsoil installed. I had a fueling problem the dealer worked on for several thousand miles. During this time, I had the oil analyzed at 6,000 mile intervals, and decided after 12,000 miles (2nd oil analysis) I would push the oil analysis out too 10,000 miles. After I had 21,000 on the truck, the Factory rep became involved to come up with a fix for the fueling problem. While he was looking around, he spotted the By-pass oil system, and inquired what it was. When I told him, and then explained the oil analysis program, he was quite impressed and informed me that by doing an oil analysis on a regular basis, it was better than changing oil!!

He further stated that when a suspected oil problem arrises, that is the best way to determing if the oil has broke down!

This guy was around fourty five at the time, and had been working for Chrysler several years. I became pretty friendly with him during the time my truck was having the fueling problem.

DOes anyone know where I can get the tool to drain the oil on a 2004 HO 2500? I don't know about anyone else but I went to change my oil and where the oil drain plug usually is (normally a bolt) there is a round recessed bolted with a square hole in it. So my question is where do I get this square wrench?
