Just changed my fuel pump because it was leaking through the weep hole. What is the average life of these pumps?(173k for mine)Mine has been leaking awhile probably. Didnt notice it till I changed the front seal and cleaned things up with a dose of Gunk. If you see a drip coming from the left side of your bell housing ,check your fuel pump. ;)

lift pump

Our over valved brothers are not going to like this thread. 7 years and 82,000, and still works like new. :D

Seven years 174k and 112k with not a hint of trouble. In fact besides bombing the only engine work on both rigs has been throttle cables, overflow valves and fuel hoses. Wish I could say the same about brakes, front end and paint.

Yep, had a customer in the store today who's first gen lift pump gave it up after only a little over 300k miles. What a POS! The 24v boys get a lot more then this out of theirs, especially those that have gone to the Mallory pump! :p

Hey Dan, I resemble that remark :D .

Just wait 'till I hit the chat room and start throwing dead Mallory pumps at ya

Got a good Spare now!

I changed mine at 210K to try and loose a ticking sound in cold weather. Preasure checked out fine just before change. Had already changed overflow valve a few months back.

I still have the tick, but have a darn good spare lift pump that I might need someday if I live long ennough for this one to go out.

Lift pump went bad on mine at about 65K. Failed in the back, allowing diesel to dump into the crankcase. Did two quick oil changes after that to make sure I killed the dilution problem.

Very interesting ?

I've never heard that problem mentioned before. Fuel getting from the pump into the crankcase. Seems like your weep hole may have been blocked or painted over?Thats why its there I presume. To let the diesel run out instead of being "pumped" into the block past a leaking o-ring. Mine pumped fine. I probably could have run it longer, but my driveway would never be the same;)
