How long does it take after "build date"

Another issue I have...



I absolutely don't want to have my truck before March/April, to avoid driving in the snow, etc. I told my salesman I wanted to hold off on the order for another month or so. His story was that he has some orders that are 8 weeks old, and haven't gone to build status. Got the word tonight that the truck's build date is January 28. Do they get build on their stated date, or does it run behind? How long does it take to be built (day/weeks)? How long to be delivered after that (Mexico to Michigan)?

If I was a betting man, I'd say you'd have it by 1 March.

My build date is Feb 1st. I was told it took 2-3 days to build and 17 days transit. Should have it by end of Feb.

Time after Build Date

My truck arrived at the dealer exactly 8 weeks to the day after I ordered it. I estimate the build date was December 16 and it arrived at the dealer on January 3. 18 days, including Christmas and New Years. I've heard it takes a truck 25 hours to make it down the line.

Ordered 9-28-02

Built 11-8-02

Arrived at the dealer 12-20-02

I picked it up on 12-31-02



The truck had a dent in the front bumper, that had to be fixed.

if the 17 days after born date is correct then i will have my truck 5 weeks after the order Oo.

Sounds like the 3500 DRW's are "freight-training" right through (my build date is only 2 weeks after my order was submitted). All of his overdue trucks were either 2500's or 3500 SRW's. I did hear though, that it takes longer to ship the "big" ones, because they can't put as many on the transport trucks. I really hope so, I'm counting on some tax return money & also, my existing car isn't worth as much now, as it will be in a few months.

Took mine about 9 weeks. Sat in storage for a week after it was built. I have to agree about the CSR's for DC, you can pretty much get a different story every time you call.

I ordered and placed a deposit on 4 December, then the dealer called on 4 January- the truck was here! I didn't even get to try the web based vehicle transportation tracking.

I ordered mine on 9/20 and the first build date I was given was 11/25. The truck was delivered to the dealer on 11/7, so I would be skeptical if quoted a long lead time.

Call DC Customer Service or see your dealer and get the rail road car number, go to uprr.com and you can trace the boxcar.

Mine was built on Jan. 17 and the dealer said it would take 10 - 20 days for delivery to me! Must be a Mexican truck.
