Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) How long does ULS Diesel Last?

I have heard that the newer gasoline formulations don't last more than about 6 months. But, what about ULSD?



Also, is there such thing as "premium" diesel that has a higher cetane rating?

some of our equipment will sit for a year or two with out being started and no problem what so ever but i live in a dry climate if i lived in a humid hot area i would check the fuel for algae before starting and if you are going to store one try to fill it up and add a additive that will kill the algae for the cr i would add 2 cycle oil also. the algae will have a brown color and is small particles if you have it it is very hard to get out of the tank best to drop the tank and steam clean replace and add one gallon of atf along with the herbicide and flush the lines and pump before starting

I took some 2 year old fuel out of the truck and ran it in the Jetta. The performance was down a little (wife didn't notice any difference and she has a clue) but that was all I could notice.
