"if it smells, all is well" had to lol at that one.
I'll add 0. 02 here. Maybe it's related, maybe not (sorry)
On my 05, as well as father's '92, we both notice stinky hot (used)
oil smell after doing an oil change. Often for a month or more.
We believe what's happening is: During removal of filter, some dirty
oil drips into (and is retained in) one of the front frame members.
This is nearby (but not too close to... ) the hot exhaust plumbing.
For some time, due to the heat proximity and retained dirty oil,
you have yourself effectively a Glade "hot dirty oil" air freshener.
I tried once getting under the truck with a garden hose, after oil change,
and liberally flushing everything with water. Result was no stinky smell,
but really took lots of effort to flush the offending nooks and crannies well.
I understand this is completely seperate from the "break-in oil smell
from breather tube" explanation on new trucks.
If someone complains too much, just tell them it's the smell of REAL TORQUE.
