Just for kicks, how long does it take folks to swap out a lift pump? My first took two of us about 2 hours. The other day I did it in 1 hour solo. Both times I fought it with the starter in place.

Any takers?

mine was about an hour and a half, but one of the studs spun out of the pump and I had to get it out of the bracket, the nut was pretty rusty but I got it off. I ded not remove anything for access

By reading the TDR my son changed the lift pump in a little over an hour from the top. I was there to assist hand tools etc. He is not a mechanic but as a builder, remodelling, he has a great deal of knowledge in problem solving. If it were not for TDR, many of the members would at the less than kindly hands of the dealers.

I replaced mine and relocated it to the frame rail in front of the tank in about an hour or so, next will be to add the 1/2 inch fuel line.

If you take the fuel filter housing off (2 bolts) and go through the top, it takes about 30 minutes, never have figured out why guys take the starter off. :D

I was looking at 35 minutes for my first one today, until I dropped the banjo bolt. It took me 10 minutes to find it sitting on the block above the rail for the oil pan.

I did it from the top, and I used 2 wrenches to undo the 3 studs on top. 1 above the bracket & 1 under. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. .

25 Minutes the first time, from the top. Hour and a half for the vulcan relocation install. With the vulcan kit now I have 12 psi minimum uphill 85 mph loud pedal set on max. Not that I do that on the open road #ad

I was hoping to get another 15000 miles out of the old pump. Pressure was excellent (16 idle, 13 cruising, 10 WOT with EZ) until it died. I had to replace in stock location to save the warrenty. After 100,000 miles the Vulcan relocation kit goes from the garage onto the truck.

45 minutes for mine last week, I was in no hurry I could do it quicker if time was limited. I do not remove any thing extra just the fuel line banjos and the pump mounting nuts and pull it out from the top.
