I can see this already. Since there is no legal requirement for me to keep this stuff (i. e. Smog check every other year in CA), how long will it take for someone to figure out how to do this?

If could strip off the DPF and figure out how to cheat the computer into always thinking it was clean this motor would be a beast.

I say with 2 years this is done.

Nothing there in Ca. says that the diesels are to be smogged. They are exempt so far, EPA, DMV, Southern Cal. Air Quality Managment Board. Until 2010 when the zero NOX emissions take affect, that is still up for debate even than for diesels.

Can not fiind anything that says otherwise.

By then Marco should for sure have a Smarty ready to go that I know he can make the engine pass the emmisions end but if they make a visual test part of it thats another story.

Related post 6/26/07 in "tow vehicle" forum at woodalls.com. Title: "Remove catalytic converter from new diesel?" The feds may have something to say about removing the DPF. Why not just buy a used 5. 9? The only reason to buy the 6. 7 is to get the standard exhaust brake (which is not free) and the 68RE transmission. There are also reports of lower fuel economy with the 6. 7.

I've heard an aftermarket exhaust company is in predevelopment for the Ford 6. 4. The new exhaust has all the fittings for the DPF sensors. Truck is fooled into thinking the exhaust has no soot buildup.

One of my dealers has already done a straight exhaust on the 6. 4 Ford and I was told so far they have seen 4-5 MPG better fuel consumption.

The dealer also told me that the exhaust for the 6. 7 was expected sometime this fall if not sooner. Magnaflow is whom I was told is doing these and all that they install at this dealer... So they are being tested and all worked out for the new motors...

I just wonder how bad pushing all this exhaust through the DPF and Cat on my 6. 7, it is on the turbo??? I don't see how it could be good LOL... I sure wish I take all my stuff off and soon...

I dont know much about these things but I know on the mustangs the off road H pipes have no converters on them and the aftermarket sells these devices that thread into the 02 sensor holes then the 02 sensors thread into them and they trick the computer to think it has cats on it and is running clean. I think something like this will be the solution for these 6. 7 trucks

i am a strong believer that there is no substitute for cubic inches

and that it is just a matter of time before the aftermarket figures it out.

If everybody takes them off you can bet we will have 2 year or even every year smog inspections in california. I hope that never happens because I enjoy not having to smog my CTD, I consider it a tax and another freedom lost, when they are allready bleedeing me to death now.
