I have a 99 2500 4wd Auto, stock power, Mag double deep pan with gauges.

Rarely exceeding 12000lb trailer. I have ordered the noise filter for the lock unlock T/C problem. At 84,000 miles what are the warning signs of trans failure?

no trans expert but , big increase in rpm when you step on it without corsponding increase in speed. dark oil in transmission, with burnt smell. erratic shifting ,slow to go in gear. mine has 336000km no priblems so far. hope this helps.

install a shift kit made by "TRANS GO" it is a do-it your self, and it helps on line press. and it should help a little, and its only about $50. 00

Drue, do regular services, sounds like you have a good start with the extra fluid capacity of the pan and you have gauges on which is important too, helps you keep an eye on temps when you are towing. I see from your sig. you are stock , should you decide to modify hp keep it modest. Also be careful with any vb modifications at this point as you have a transmission with some mileage on it and the lipseal in the front part of the transmission can be affected if pressures are changed at this point.

Has anybody used the Banks Big Hoss? It has the "Autorate" which is supposed to momentarily de-rate the engine when lockup is engaged. Does it de-rate below the stock level or just de-rate the above-stock level? Do the valve body kits raise the line pressure a lot or just flatten the pressure curve by bringing the pressure up sooner which would work better for the rpm range we run compared to a gas-burner's rpm range?
