A friend of mine has a 6KW gasoline generator, and we are thinking of converting it over to natural gas. I need to find out what it would cost to run on natural gas versus gasoline.

So... anybody know how many BTU's are in a cubic foot of gas?

Thanks

At our plant we are allowed to sell methane gas that has a BTU content of 1000 btu per cubic foot, You will find this to be pretty much a standard if you will every where, and like mose places the all mighty dollar comes up again so all the companys have found that they can use a slip stream of CO2 as an innert gas as a filler which bassically means they streatch the cubic foot a little. Kinda like putting a cup of water in a gallon af gas for more volumn .

Once again I answer behind the mighty fast Whitmore.

Yes the standard is 1000 btu per cubic foot, or 1,000,000 btu's per MCF. However, it's not unusual to see gas with a range of 970,000 to 1,000,200 btu's per MCF on gas that comes out of Oklahoma and Louisiana.
