Hey, just wanderin how many coal miners are TDR members and lovin the Cummins! Me... ... ... 35yrs. and lovin it.

I am a diesel tech at a lignite coal, strip mine. 16 million tons a year delivered.

I am glad its not an underground mine.

Love to work around the big equipment. our big trucks are a fleet of cat 793c.

240ton capacity end dumps. with 2300 hp 16 cyl engines.

our coal haulers are 300 ton capacity Kress belly dump trucks that run 35 mph loaded. Many other big toys also.

Who do you supply it to?? an electric company??

Yes we supply it to 2 coal fired electric generating plants and 1 Gassification unit that makes numerous products from it. Mainly Anhydrous ammonia and liquid Carbon dioxide. and many more things.

Lignite is the lowest quality and dirtiest burning coal. but it is cheap to mine and it is extermely abundant here. At current burn rate there is around a 200 year supply in ND alone.

I live in a lignite strip mining area too. The electric utility folks around here jokingly call the lignite fueled electric generating plants "dirt burners". :D
