Many in California but...

There are many in northern California (Sacramento area)

driving and for sale.

BUT.....

I do not think there are very many if any others like what I am finishing up puting together.

I just got it running and am happy as a pig in poop!

1978 F250 crew cab 4x4 short bed (quite rare as I am learning)

with OF COURSE... a 1992 CTD, NV4500, Ford NP 205, 12 cm turbo, Rip's 4" exhaust, waiting to get it registered and then install the POD's... . yeeeee haaaaaa... ... .

600 lb/ft torque hear I come!!!!!!!!!!!!

I need to get it registered and take it to the referee to get my lovely Diesel exempt stick in the door jam and off and pulling

I go. :) :D  :p  Oo. Oo. :-laf

Around here, if you see an old Dodge Truck around, it's almost a sure thing that it has a Cummins in it. An '89 Dodge truck isn't worth owning w/o the Cummins in it.

I'm in Northern Virginia just south of DC and it is extremely rare to see a first generation, but then again you don't see too many pickups of any make of that vintage. This area is dominated by newer Fords.

Since my son got his truck, I have noticed quite a few. Mostly gas but a few diesels. They are in pretty tough shape. Either full of dents or very rusty.

I just spent about three hours driving around the city, and saw 6 or 7 square Dodge pickups - all gassers. Plus a Ramcharger.

I can only remember seeing 2 First Gen CTD's in town in a year. Hardly any Second Gens, either. If you see a CTD here, you are probably on the expressway, and the truck is just passing through from somewhere else, always pulling something.

My theory is there has never been any incentive to have a diesel here. Diesel fuel prices have always been high, and I think most working guys stay in the area and don't rack up the miles to make a diesel pay off.
