Strange Noise

My 03 has 39,997 mi. today. I was under it last week while changing oil filter, and there is not one little leak or seep, its as clean as the day I drove it home. I'm really impressed with this trk. It pulls and handles like a dream. The more I drive it, the more I like it!! Just got back from Tampa, Fl. this morn. , 1734 mi. , averaged 20. 3 mpg. Last week from Ocala, Fl. , 1693 mi. avg. 20. 8 mpg. With me in it, and full of fuel it weighs 9480 lbs. You can't ask for any better than that!

I have 135,000 I bought it in November with 130,000 from a friend. I was gone for the month of December amazing how mileage racks up in something you enjoy driving.

I put 297,000 on my '91 3/4 ton before going to a suburban gas. My dad had about 180,000 on his '93, my brother has about 140,000 on his '98. 5 and I now have a '01 with 85,000. So far no problems for me. My 91 needed new rotors at about 225,000. My brothers 98. 5 needed ball joints around 100,000. Take just a liitle care and it should last forever!:D

My 93 has 370K on it. I bought it one year ago.

Previous owner sold it because he didn't want to

put any more money in it. It was smoking like crazy and he already had the head rebuilt, a new

injection pump and injectors put on. The shop he took it to told him he needed to rebuild the block next. I pulled it and the block showed very little wear. I put in rings & brngs and it still smoked like mad and lacked power. The shop that did the work for the original owner didn't put the key on the injection pump so the timing was way off.

How far would it have gone? Don't know. All I know is I have a 93 with a very good engine!!!

Update time

Now have 78K on the 00 and rear main is bleeding. [EDIT: Rear seal is fine] Will attend to that as I put in SBC. I think my mileage has gotten better. Foot is no lighter. I'll have to compile the numbers.

EDIT: That's 30k in my first year with it and did not drive it for 35 days following accident.

Conclusion--I need another CTD to spread the miles around.

I now have 83,000 miles on my 2001. 5 and still going strong. Had to put a pusher pump on at 73,000 miles, but other than that, no problems

206,000 miles......

Yes I am a 200k + member and cant say enough about how well my truck has held up. When I bought the truck I found the original owners service notes (pocket size notebook).

Well I will suggest this to all of my brothers here.

That you begin to jot down (if you dont already) all of your services and mod's. I was so impressed by this it was the decision maker for me buying my truck.

I picked up where he left off. Jotting down Oil. Wipers, Trans service... anything and everything. Someday I hope it will catch the eye of a potentiel buyer :( . Or maybe not:D .

The '01. 5 has just over 40k on it. The VP-44 died a few days ago and left me along the road. We put in on a car trailer and towed it home behind the '92 with over 320k on it!!! I think these trucks will last forever with good maintenance and a few repairs!

237k and change. Got plenty of wear and tear on the truck but the engine is solid. Only major work on the engine had been a water pump o-ring and a lift pump.

My 01

I bought my 01 new in Aug of 2001 with 25 miles on it, I am currently running around 67k miles and still loving it. Looking to start the bombing process now...

How many miles

How many miles? 200,145. Still running like a champ. This is a work truck in construction trade. It's a 94 with a 2002 bed. 3500. How do I get a 200,000 mile stickie, TDR grille badge? Sleonard

THe 91 in my sig turned over 250K last week. Used almost a quart the last oil change (5000). Half of it went out the valve cover gaskets. Still starts and gets 20 mpg. I'd get better if I went 60 instead of 68-70. Transmission leaks a little out the rear seal. All original drivetrain. I plan on getting at least another 500K out of it if I keep it that long. Very little blow by. I think it is impossible to go wrong with a Bseries in a pickup, whatever the brand.

got a lot, but just breaking her in

1997 2500 4x4. 258,600. Not a problem in the world, well the transmission slips a little bit, but I keep my foot out of her as much as possible, that and I need more power. Everytime I see another bombed out CTD I have gotta get something new. :D
