Looking at trying to do some statistical analyisis on failure rates first step is mileage. Please be honest and only 24 valves for this post... . More later on types of failures.

Curt

58, 017 miles.

1 clockspring

7 pinion seals (replaced diff/axle housing under warranty)

3 tailshaft housing seals (under warranty)

1 AC compressor clutch (under warranty)

I have a '99 with 21000. No problems yet. Very concerned about lift-pump after all I've read and heard! Getting ready to check fuel pressures as soon as I can get the gauge mounted. Does anyone know what the pumps that have failed look like on the inside? What is causing the failures? I heard we just need to put a pre-filter between the tank and the lift-pump? My thinking is that might just make it worse if distance is the problem. How 'bout a pusher-pump and pre-filter combo?

Oh yeh, this is my first post, hope I am doing everything right and in line. Sould have joined when I first got my truck! My thanks to all of you!

14,700 on mine never had failure on it yet ( knock on wood )

going to take it to northern michigan ( u. p. ) to see the casinows

up there. :) :) :)

Just rolled over 100k this week.

Here is a list of failures:

3 trackbars ( 2 of which were bent).

3 fuel gauge sending units

Cruise reprogrammed

Ball Joints drivers side

Shocks ( out at 20k)

Alternator ( 10k)

Clutch ( 50k barely )

Wheels ( bent one and the design sucks, traps mud on the inside and throws the tires out of balance. )

Replacing driver side Tie Rod ends this weekend.

2 emergency brake release handles broken.

Speed sending unit going out, starts sending at around 30 mph.

Crank position sensor ( around 37k ).

Lift pump when out ?, noticed it at 50k replaced with mallory 4150 back at tank.

That is all I can remember off the top of my head, may be more that I am overlooking. I do remember always going to the dealter with a long list of problems though.

I think CGoyette was only asking for engine problems, not the general stuff.

My '00 has 50k miles now. It's gone through two lift pumps and originally had a bad ECM program which made a big difference when that was fixed.

lift pump only

56,000 + in 15 months, lift pump is the only engine problem (and virtually the only problem, period!) I wouldn't have known the lift pump was dead if I hadn't put a pressure gauge on. Check 'em boys - you may not realize when they die!

31000---replaced the lift pump(it wasn't totally dead but it was on it's way)--other than that everything else that I changed out is to make my truck better---chris

A little more than 75K.

Replaced a headlight switch, dealer did warranty work on left side front axle leak, cruise control reflashed, additional hitch brackets under warranty.

Took delivery 9-9-00 and have 33,796 today.

1. Leaking steering gear, tightened adjuster on top

2. Still pending de-sprung clockspring

3. Lift pump changed 8-3-01

And I'll second the need to check the lift pump output. Had been suspecting it going toes up but was floored to see 3psi at idle. Check em soon, check em often.

Just say no to re-flash,

Darren

I'm at 30K and let's see what have I had to replace... .

Wore out:

brakes, tires

Broke:

HX-40

tail shaft seal

Stolen:

spare tire and wheel

Replaced before it broke:

lift pump

Fell off and had to be replaced with better after market parts (trust me, this excuse really works :D):

all the stuff in the signature

Turned 80,000 miles two months ago on 2001 HO. 6 speed . I have had no repairs at all !!!!!! NONE !!!!!!
