I currently tow a 35 ft. 5th wheel. Want to take my Harley with me.

I've seen several guys who pull two trailers, and this is what I would like to do. My HitchHiker has the receiver hitch and is capable of pulling the extra weight.

How many of you pull a fiver and a extra trailer? Any problems with the law? I'm from Illinois. I'm at 53 ft. with my truck and fiver.

I think you would need to check the regulations in every state as they are all different if I remember correctly. Most have a max length and some do not allow two traliers. I know here in Alaska its legal. My father used to tow our 24 ft travel tralier with a 16 ft both behind that. Looked like a train and it was hard to back it up.

I live in Idaho and tow 5th wheel and a 18 ft. boat. I've tow thru Utah and Nev. without problems. I tow in Idaho almost weekly. You cann't back-up so know where you are going. :)

I tow a 32' fiver and a 21' boat. Never had any difficulties. Gone through, CO, WY and MT. Going to Table Rock this year, will go through MO and KS. Check your states laws. Make sure you have adequate tongue weight, preferably a tandem axle tag trailer to avoid trailer sway. Like others have said, it is difficult if you need to back up, and can be a challenge when time to fuel up. Other than that, no big deal.

I admit I have just stayed in OKlahoma and Texas and towed gooseneck 25ft. and bumper pull 16ft. with both full of firewood. Only trouble was in ok. at Atoka in a truckstop was Trooper said you have a pretty good load don't ya but I bet that cummins can handle it. I just replied all I have to do is keep fuel in it and go the speed limit. He just said have a good day.

I don't really know where it's legal, though in the RV park here in Pasco, WA a Oregon licensed 5'er and boat pulled in - and he backed it into the spot complete...

Anyway, there seems to be some differing definitions from state to state, though fifth wheel equiped trucks are (or seem to be) considered tractors and tractors can tow double. Bumper pull can't go double. And I've seen it in Oregon often over the last few years (a guy I followed much of the way to Oregon had a smallish fishing boat on a trailer in the bed of his truck with a bumper pull travel trailer, then later in Oregon I ran across him towing both... )

And I understand that most states honor the rules from the state your drivers license is issued, so if it's legal at home you can generally tow anywhere [assuming they ordinarily allow doubles of course]. But I have no desire to test it out myself.

I think in Utah here the length has to be 65' max and no more than 2 trailers for "Rv" type. I am from California and they have a law you can ride in a 5th while towing as long as you had communication . . not allowed here in Utah. . Strange. .
