The Hemi Wars heat up..5 of top 10 spots at Reading..

In Texas my 2500 01 are about $85 (license plates), no state income tax, sales tax is 8. 25%, 6% in rural areas.

How do other states compare?

Some might think we subsidize ourselves by planning ahead and having enough electricity to sell to communist states (California :-laf )

In Massachusetts my plates are $135/per year, they charge $15 per 1000 pounds gross weight for Commercial plates. Sales tax is 5%. Yearly State Excise tax I forget the rate. Yearly inspection $29. I really don't want to mention insurance (I t will start a war) but I pay $2100 per year now because I have 2 under 25 drivers listed on my truck because the insurance company STICKS IT to the most valuable vehicle in the driveway.

$75 dollars for tags in Sumner County TN.

Diesel/8600-and up GVWR exempt--thank goodness!Oo.

No safety inspection.

I used to go one county over and get tags for my old Chevy(legally) because I chased all the kitties away from it. :-laf

Well last year that was $25... ... this year $65!#@$%!

Oh well no marta there I'll still get my tags over there!:D

425. 00 This year... ..... Will triple next year to balance Gray on his way out Davis' budget... . 13% income tax... ... 8. 25% sales... ... .

18 cent fuel tax... ... 1. 5% property tax

I love this state soooooo much.

In Montana I paid $95 last year. Next year when the trucks are 10 years old I can opt for lifetime registration for a little more and will never have to register again, the stick on tab will say exempt. This is available in many states but they certainly don't advertise it for obvious reasons, you need to ask.

No sales tax, 2. 5% - 6. 5% state income tax depending on exemptions. Property taxes are high.

Just got my first registration renewal for my '03. $899.

On the other hand, I also just re-registered my '68 Fury for $40...

Gas is around $2. 25/gal, but diesel near my house has never broken $2, and is about $1. 77 now. CA, you gotta love it...

TP, I think this is a ridiculous price to pay for vechicle registration in this state. For retired people, this imposes an extra hardship. No wonder that business's are leaving this state for being overtaxed.

$32 same every year except the first year when you pay inital tax and title filing. No other taxes or anything else. :D Some things are very nice about living in the middle of nowhere

198 for 11k in PA. I think my inspection is 20 or 25. I always give the mech an extra 10 for lunch, heh heh heh.

$78 for "B" plates in Illinois (up to 16,000 pounds total). Local sales tax is 6. 6% No inspection for anything one ton and under.

Yep, I just mailed off the registration on my truck. It was $442 and unless they do something between now and next September I'll be looking at over $1,000!

$21 in Arkansas. Our tax loving Republican Governor will probably try to fix that to though!

We do have to pay sales tax on used vehicles though - thanks to Bill Clinton!
