with a 16* cfm ex. housing? I ask this question because I finally decided today to slide the stock plate foward. And with nothing else done to it except 4" downpipe to dual 4" stacks (not like you could see my sig. ) There arent any neat inj in there just stock and a K&N filter in stock box. I NAILED 38 lbs not once but everytime I tried it. I can it that in 4th alone and in 5th I can bounce it off 40. The ex. housing is Non-Wastegated, so I am going to assume that has something to do with it. I am also assuming that this if anything is really pushing the turbo quite a bit so i have decided to stay out of it on the hotrodding until I either know other wise or can swap it out.

Russel,

I failed my oem hx35 with 12 cm housing at 36-38 psi after 1 year, autopsy results were bearing failure on the compressor side, the exhaust side didnt look to good either.

Cheers, Kevin

watch out.

Mine (OEM)went to 43psi a few times before I learned not to. Now I am adjusted to hit 36# max at 5x5 uphill. Usually 32-34 at other settings. I may back off another 1/2 turn on the gate.

I don't think the housing size matters when it comes to "overpumping" a 35. They're overheating the air when you run them over 35 or so PSI.

is having a non-wastegated turbo hurting or helping me being stock, keeping in mind that I AM going add a plate and injectors as soon as I get my hands on my H1E.

Well, you could be lucky and get it to really push some air. Ive hit 50# and above 40 all the time for the last 3 years, and the bearings are still tight. Yes, I know the intake air is almost as hot as the exhaust, but it has more power like that than if i hook up the wastegate. I have herd from a little devil on my shoulder that they have survived 80+ psi. I'm surprised the boots didnt melt.

My stock 35/12 is set to 38. I can see about 42 on very rear occations. Jannetty had me set it that way and I have had no problems at all. EGT's stay in control too.

I took mine to 50 one time, and grenaded it at 49 PSI..... Almost 1 year ago! autopsy was a failed compressor side shaft, which is somewhere on Loop FM 1604, San Antonio TX. . I would not take it over about 30-35 PSI... that is the max for the little turbo!

I believe Marine versions run our turbo at 37psi. Making it bark is worse than running at pressures under 40 psi. Above that, your on your own.

Mine sees 40 fairly often and has been for 2 years. If I could figure a way to back it off to 30-35 or so I would but its a non waste gated 16cm housing.
