I ran the new EZ hard for the first time today. I waited till 6th on the freeway, and then opened er up. She jumped to about 25# and 90 MPH when she defueled. Being that this is new to me, is that the expected range? I also put on an AFE when the gauges went in last weekend. Any opinions???? TIA, Sarge:eek:

When I first put the EZ on (with the boost elbow), I would see 32 psig max boost when towing our 13,500 lb 5ver - 1100 degF max pre-turbo EGT versus 1300 degF stock. For the last 6 months, max boost has dropped to 30 psig with no increase in EGT. Haven't found out why yet... .

Just for the heck of it, I went to the truck and checked to see if any codes were set, in light of some of the recent posts regarding the Edge EZ and VP's. I happy to say, all it said was "P-DONE" :D :D :D

So... . is my EZ defective if the highest boost I've seen is about 22? I'm at about 4000' in elevation, but have driven at sea level but see no changes in boost pressure. Maybe I need to "stand on it" longer ??

Have you done anything to disable or change the operation of the turbocharger wastegate? If not, you'll not see higher boost pressure.

No, you did the right thing by installing the boost elbow if you want more boost. 22 psig sounds low to me, but my frame of reference is my 2002 ETH/DEE. Let's see what some of the other 98. 5 24 valve owners are getting.

I read that there is an old truckers saying that you are creating approx. 10 hp per pound of boost.

Mine peaks at 29 psi. Approx. 290 hp ? Probably a little high with my mods. I went from 27psi to 29 psi when I removed the muffler. Which suggests you get approx. 20hp by deleting the muffler.

I brought this back up to see if any of the 98. 5+ guys see more than 22 psi boost with just an EZ... . I am at some elevation but am worried that my EZ maybe cheesy:confused:

I see 28 to 30 pounds of boost with the EZ and elbow.

This combination knocked 2 seconds off 0 to 60.

Must be my EZ is not cheezy

Pressure gauge

Before doing anything to correct boost pressure, you may want to check the instrument panel gauge. I hooked up a test gauge and found mine had a 22% error. What I thought was 21 psi was really 25. 5 psi…

I also only saw 26-27 psi with just the EZ and the boost fooler on. How is it that some of you see so much more I wonder?

At least I see a little more now with the addition of DD3's. :D :D

I don't know why either, but there seems to be a definite range that you will see. I know with the addition of injectors, the boost jumps a lot. I didn't want to go that route right now. With the 4. 10 rear end, the acceleration is amazing in 6th. I would destroy the clutch with injectors... ... ... .

My EZ alone made me see 26 psi WOT. This was in GA. INstalling the DD2s bumped it up to 32 psi MAX. Here in Cheyenne, I can barely hit 29 now with just EZ and 2s.

My stock clutch is holding quite well, thank you, and I have 2s, EZ, AND 3. 54s. Clutch lives longer with 4. 10s. .
