So I am running some SW that is disabling my wastegate.

How much boost can I run the Stock turbo? I am going to upgrade but not now. So for now I don't want it coming apart. I have seen 43 PSI and I backed out, I don't know where it will stop.

Right now I have to watch it. If I stand on the go pedal the boost climbs and I have to let out. I don't want to scatter parts.

38-40 is the max i would run it to be on the safe side

Is there an easy way to limit it to there until I get a new turbo?

you would have to download the stock turbo version of the smarty that way the wastegate does its job. or just watch your gauge very closely.

i am not telling you to run high boost out of you stocker but i beat the crap out of mine, i saw over 55psi out of it on more than one occation. kinda scary if you ask me.

Where to tap into for installation of a boost guage on my 95 12v, w/automatic trans, stock turbo, stock fuel pump. I had a mechanic tell me he thought I wasn't developing full boost. I checked the wastegate opration and the rod strokes when 20 psi shop air is applied. When driving I can feel the turbo operating under acceleration and load but I'm not sure if it's unloading prematurely of not developing full boost. Suggestions????

I had the same concern with my truck and smarty with boost fooling... could hit 45psi+..... there's a lot of opinions on what is safe... . i just didnt want to have to watch the guage and be limited on throttle because of boost... so i went back to non boost fooling version... .

That being said, there's more options on the way..... i'm testing Smarty Beta 4. 4 (Towing and Mileage)... . level 3..... it apparently has boost limiting set at approx 35psi..... (not just open like previous boost fooling versions)... . it's very nice, you can feel the extra pull at ful boost and it keeps the egt's to 1100* on a 0-90/100 run... .

If you're worried about the turbo like i was, i recommend you go back to the non boost fooling version and hang tight for the next smarty release... . dont spend any time or money... . it appears the solution is on the way... no one knows the release date, but i can say the 4. 4 is pretty solid, i havent noticed any issues with it as of yet..... it's good stuff... .

There's a post on here or Diesel Truck Resource "Smarty Beta 4. 4"... . gives some more details... .

I am running the Beta fuel/economy software 4_3 right now on Level 3. Does it stop at 35PSI. Last weekend I was on Level 5 when I saw 43PSI. That I thought was a bit much. Since then I have not been WOT because of the high boost.

I've been running mine in the mid to high 30's since I put the Juice in... 115K ago. Truck runs cooler (EGT) with the Juice than w/o.

I just installed a new Edge w/ attitude, and its directions state that 36 psi is the max Safe level with out harm . (Mine is an 03 year). So for what ever thats worth. Dan

I can't say for sure, only relate what i've seen.

On the standard smarty software (non beta)... with the aftermarket turbo option and on level 3... . i could hit 45+ psi. On the beta 4. 4 and on level 3 i max out at 35psi (and i tried to get it higher)..... maybe there are limits depending upon what level you're on? e. g. 3 = 35, 5 = xx,... not sure... . or it could just be the way it's fueling it only provided 35psi (and there's not actually an upper limit set)... . not sure..... i wont run level 5 on my stock trans, but have DTT parts on the way... . i'll give level 5, 7 and 9 a test after that and report back.

I will try it if I get a spot when the engine is warm. It would be nice if it stopped at 35 so I can stand on it.

How long ago did you get the file... and is it Towing and Mileage Version Beta 4. 4... . file name: Smt4Beta44_47. smt... . just trying to make sure we're using the same stuff...

I am gonna have NGM diesel install guages on mine very soon I am stupid and learn the hard way so I dont have gauges. but go figure actuall Boost number with my set up

AFE stage 2

7" stacks are half way installed out back

PPE HOT set on Xtreme setting

Banks 6 gun with speedloader option. Thermo couple is plugged in but sensor reads temperature next to steering column. in other words no defueling

qaudzilla boost fooler (I believe PPE HOT may be boost fooling too just a hunch)

banks technicooler with high ram

pass headlight removed and some plastic removed to aerodynamically pressurize AFE at a 70 Plus mph

removed silence ring on turbo

b99 biodiesel

and a driver that likes to drive Wide open until coolant temp rises too high

Also turbo surge when it engages 4th gear and lockup. tough little turbo if you ask me.

I am running this one: Smt3V310Beta4_3. 7z

I have the S04 Smarty not the S06. Bob originally sent me the Software for the S06 then resent the correct SW for my S04.

Ok, 4. 3 vs. 4. 4 and so4 vs so6... . could explain it... . maybe they put limits on the 4. 4 version or maybe not?? I thought so based upon my previous level 3 (standard software) boosting to 45+psi... . I just cant go to level 5 (and max boost)... . i've been too nice to my trans for 6 months and i'm weeks away from getting it built up... .

Who knows, that could be the difference.

I am just trying to watch it for now. I may buy a manual boost controller and hook that up. Then I could limit it to 35-38 or so.

OK update on the boost!... . I was incorrect, on the freeway, with the throttle buried, i hit 38psi and was climbing..... so, apparently there is not a limit... . appologize for misleading anyone... wasnt the intent.
