I have a 2006 2500 HD SRW. I'm looking into auto transport, looking at trailers and want to know how much weight I can legally tow with this truck. Looking at a 2 car tag trailer, or a gooseneck 2-3 car trailer. what is my weight limit? thanks

"Legally", you are allowed something like 20k combined... around 13k in trailer.

Not as much as you would think, and definitely not as much as I'm sure you've seen running down the road.

It depends on your license and how your truck is registered. Here in Nevada you can tow 10,000 with a regular class 3 licence with a tag along or a combined 26,000 with a 5th wheel or gooseneck. Having a cld is a whole different thing. I've seen 3500 trucks registered up to 45,000 gcvw.

We have an 04 3500 dually that we use to tow a 22K lb trailer... the trailer is licensed for 24K but we've always kept it under that... . it has power disc brakes... .

Of course our drive has a CDL, which you'd need if you exceed 26K total weight of truck and trailer, medical certificate, and if your going from state to state, apportioned plates and log book...

One word of caution... . most states are ruthless on out of state drivers towing for hire with out the correct permits and or license...
