Competition First pull on a 300' track(video)

I told the drive shaft shop my flat face to flat face distance of my yokes was 31. 25" Well they made me a drive shaft for the front of my dodge, that fully compressed is 31. 25". I am a little concerned that as the truck body goes down, that I will be pressing backwards on the transfer case. I did the calculations there is approxiamately 5. 5" of vertical distance between the two yokes If i compress the front end down 3". I show that I would be pushing back on the transfer case about. 4" should I be concerned about this?? When you give someone dimensions for a drive shaft what dimensions do you typically give them? How much compression should be allowed in the drive shaft?

Thanks

Bring it back and have them shorten it. They messed up your order. You'll end up breaking the T Case or back of the transmission if you try to run it.

As for travel, it really depends on the driveshaft sytle, though you should at least have 1-2" of compression.

Normally you measure from yoke to yoke at ride height. I'm not sure what you mean by flat face?

I figured he would allow for some compression, I will go home and get it up there and see how it looks. I will call them in the am and see if they can take about 3/4". I really need it for tomorrow evening though. Maybe they can run it to their other shop and do it while the delivery guy waits.

I've had driveshafts made too long, same situation your in. Realized it at 4:59PM type deal, called up the shop and then came and got it, shortened it and the guy brought it back to me on his way home from work... basically they stayed after hours to make it right.

I had them take the front section of my rear two piece and make it to replace my front drive shaft. Does anybody know how much compression is available on the stock front driveshaft. My stock one will not move in and out, so I can't tell how it is supposed to be. I remember having to compress the stock one to get it mounted but dont remember how close it is to bottoming out. If anybody can get me this measurement it would be great. Thanks

Dan
