What causes this ?...............

Hello,

I have a new Dodge RAM 2500 CTD 4x4 and though I don't have a trailer yet I want to have a hitch in case I want to take my dads Travel Trailer. What drop do I need for standard trailers with a 2500 4x4? 3" or 4"?

Thanks,

With a travel trailer I would say 4 inch. If I were to pull a travel trailer I would get an equalizer hitch and they can be adjusted to make it level no matter the height of the rig. Then you can use the sway bar which is also a good idea also. My 2cents.

I got an 8" drop bar and it worked well for my x-travel trailer (4000 lbs) and for towing u-hauls. If anything, it's still slightly too high.

I have a 10k rated, 10" adjustable drop reciever. Paid 68 for it.

I also have a 12" plate reciever with the duplex ball/pintle. My duplex is rated 8ton w/2 5/16" ball but you can get 6ton w/2" ball also. I guess you could say I would have made a good boy scout.

I know you can also buy weight distributing setups that include an adjustble (Hi-Lo) reciever bar.

If you need more info or explantion, let me know.
