You can bet it wont be cheap

I think it is like 4hrs per side. (Someone with a Chilton Labor Guide can correct me) So, at even a conservative $50/hr, you are looking at $400 labor, plus probable "retail" of $40 a piece for bearings, and then shop fees, which are about 3-5% of the total labor charge.

Find a warm place to do it and I might come a help. They are no sweat on a first genner. Where are you at midwest dually? I think the bearings are about $100, and the ujoints are pretty pricey $45 a piece, and seals about $12 for the good stuff. I think this about what i pay when I get neglectful. For some reason water crossings can kill them!

Midwest, I dug this up from when I did my front end...

Randys Rocks!

Called yesterday, still not parts, cancelled order with local dist and took JFitz's advice and called Randys Ring and Pinion (800-292-1031). Nice organization, very helpful, knowledgeable. Got my parts coming, should arrive monday.

For Reference, here is a list of the parts being replaced. First column is the exploded view reference number (Spicer Drawing), second column is Spicer part number, third is description:

32 620058 Upper kingpin seal

33 37305 Lower kingpin seal

34 41777 Lower Kingpin bearing seal

35 706150X Lower kingpin bearing and race

43 620132 Upper kingpin cap

44 37307 Upper kingpin cap gasket

45 37300 Kingpin spring

46 620180 Kingpin spring retainer

47 41886 Uppper kingpin bushing

48 37302 Upper Kingpin

57 620062 Inner spindle seal

58 37312 Spindle thrust washer/spacer

59 37311 Outer spindle seal

60 620063 Spindle bearing

63 48816 Hub seal (Inner wheel bearing seal)

64 706411X Inner wheel bearing + race

65 706074X Outer wheel bearing + race

Randys sells the kingpin parts in a kit, just like JFitz says, you get it all, including bolts. The spindle parts (57,58,59,60) are also in a kit. I did get the wheel bearing parts from local supplier (63,64,65). Price of all items, excluding wheel bearing stuff: $109. 56.

Now if I could just get that broken bolt out, I'm all set

Pat

If you want to read the entire thread, search for kingpin removal. Sorry, I couldn't figure out how to post the link:( I'll try and remember to look at the receipts tonight and get the rest of the pricing.
