How much fuel have you put in?

Gas

No Powerstroke Needed

I've pumped in 33. 5 gallons. If you take into account the fuel that the pick-up tube misses in the bottom of the tank and the amount circulating in the pumps and lines. This is too close to empty.

Just curious how far down it will go.

I put in 35. 5 once. I sure thought I was going to walk that night. The station I expected to be open was not and it was eighty miles to the next one with the low fuel light shineing all the way!!

Do I win the Booby prize (emphasis on BOOB)? Once I put in slightly over 36 gallons including the ONE gallon empty/cleam antifreeze jug that I had to climb up and down the exit ramp 1/4 mile to get the jug filled and poured in my tank! The truck fired up quickly becasue I shut her down I felt the loss of power and coasted down a long gently sloping hill right up under the exit overpass. At least I know how far a stock Reg cab LWB will coast from 70mph. It would surprise you. :D As Agent "86" Maxwell Smart used to say, "I missed it by that much!"

I filled up last night & put in an all-time high of 28. 5 gallons. I was planning on driving until the gauge got down pretty deep into the red zone to see how much she would hold, but with yesterday's events, when I saw diesel at $1. 28/gal and no line, I decided to fill up.

I usually fuel up at the first opportunity after the low fuel light comes on, the gauge usually reads around 1/8 tank, and it takes right at 25 gallons to top it off. Last night, when I put in 28. 5, the guage was just into the red zone. My rig is a shortbed, and I believe the tank is supposed to have a 35 gal capacity, is this right? I know the topic pertains to the max quantity of fuel everyone has put in, but I'm curious what the average is when the gauge is just into the red, if mine really does hold 35 gals, then my gauge must be off.

I guess I am not empty when I put in 28 or 29 gallons. I don't rock it or shake it though, when she shuts off, I'm done. Wonder how much more I could put in if I was patient.

Dennis,

I've "rocked & shaked" mine & still can't get it to take over 28 gal. Everytime I fill up, I wonder if there really is 8 - 10 gallons left in the tank. I guess, since plenty of guys are getting over 30 gallons in theirs, my gauge is a little off. I believe I'll throw caution to the wind and push it ~150 miles after the light comes on before filling up... since it usually takes 25 gal when the light comes on, and I'm averaging around 18mpg, 150 miles should leave me with around 2 gallons. I'm gonna try that with this tank full and see how much it takes to re-fill the tank.

96 gallons. I hold 100 when full. I was sweatin it. I was thinking about the empty diesel cans I have at home, for a while I was wishing I had them with me.
