Looks like a C series engine to me, painted yellow to match the road grader it came from. What ports am I checking out? I didnt see any pics of the head in the listing. Or at least anything that would affect power output.

I'd say it'd be good to 1000 useable HP, if the B is good to 800 useable HP.

i was at cummins today. didnt have my camera with me tho...

they have pallets full of heads outside. cores

the ports in that 6c motor are 5 times the size of our b motors

and they are all perfectly uniform and nothing to disturb flow like our heads have

and really, really big

i will try to remember a cam next time i go there... .

From the add description:

"This engine weighs 1620 pounds"

Wonder what THAT would do to the GVW? :-laf

allen, it wouldnt be any different than running low on fuel vs having my tank full

daniel, some are getting well over 1000 hp out of the 360 cu in B motor

imagine - 500 inches!

By "useable" I meant streetable, daily drivers, possibly tow now and then. I am well aware that there are sled pullers with 1300+ HP, but I didnt think they had very good street manners. I could be wrong, though.

i would think the p-pump's would be the streetable/towable 800hp's the VE's sure arnt able to get up there (yet), and there arnt many 12v vp-44 or CR's (if any), i think the best setup would be a built p7100 w/ a 24v head, i've seen atleast one if not two ( i think one was on here) any one know the power there making?

There are (or were, anyway) a few street driven, daily driver 12v engines close to if not over 800 HP. Joe Donnelley and Jim (?) Fulmer come to mind, though Fulmer's may be a 24v. I know it's a 2ndGen.

The p-pumps over 500 HP are pretty unmannerly on the street, the VP's not far behind. Very few if any of these high HP trucks are towing or rolling around empty at the level. Way too hard to control and extremely thirsty.

There is a big difference between laying down a big number on a dyno and negotiating stop-n-go traffic. Those 2 conditions are what could be called mutually exclusive. :-laf

Quite simply the engine cooling system, oil cooling, etc, is not capable of sustained operation beyong 500 hp or so. Even approaching that number you had better have oil temp gauges, extra coolers, etc, or things will suffer. ;)

yea, but a 215 hp p-pump truck drives fine a 430 hp (double stock)

that is why you need one of these motors:

if they came with 400 hp (at 2,000 rpm), just imagine cruising around with 800, all day long...
