Don't know for sure, but I think my truck has just a stock style clutch... the truck has 205k miles on it, I don't know how many clutches that is. The guy who used to own it probably just took it back to the dealer to have the clutch replaced when needed.

My question is: how much power can the stock clutch hold?

I plan on BOMBing quite a bit this winter, I will start this weekend. I just want to know when I need to start supporting South Bend a little... :D

When you smell it. :D

If you have read the BOMBing stages 1 thru ??? you will read it's around 250hp. Same thing is printed in the latest issue #41 titled Bob's Prescription for Power.

The 1st Gen Sachs clutch is pretty stout and I would say it should easily go to 300hp. I would contact Peter at South bend clutch, I'm sure he will fill you in on its capabilities. I am currently running a SBC Con-O which is good to 400hp. It is far superior to the Sachs in daily drive-ability.

Thanks guys. Unfortunately, I don't know exactly what clutch I have, althought my best guess would be the sachs.

My next purchase will no doubt be the Con O clutch. If mine starts slipping, I'll back of the throttle for a while until I can get a new clutch in.

I know a LuK Pro Gold wont be much of an improvement. Been there done that. Still have the stock clutch from my 92. It is good to about 750lb-ft, I think, which is about 300 hp. I think mine is getting a little tired- I can heat it up once in a while, but I can hit 25 psi by 55 mph in 5th. Your clutch may well be stock and original- I know a guy who had to put one in his 90 at 400K. Relax, dotn worry, if you smell it (like hot brakes, but a little harsher), back off it.
