how much is a trillion?

I was watching my portable genset run. It, of course, has to turn 60 revolutions/second to generate 60hz. I wondered how long would it take to reach a trillion revs. Or to make it more fun, lets pretend it's a cash machine spitting out 60 dollars a second. you would make 3600 dollars a minute. 216,000 dollars an hour. In 4. 63 hours you will be a million dollars richer. In a 192. 9 days you will have a billion dollars. How long would it take to reach a trillion dollars? I was surprised by this. I knew it would be a long time, but I had no idea. It would, at 60 dollars a second, take 528. 49 years to reach a trillion.

Good thing (?) that Big Ben can make money a lot faster than your generator can! Just think how long it will take your kids and grand kids to repay all those dollars!

A trillion dollars could send everyone in America on a lavish vacation to Tahiti. It's the interest on the trillion that is going to really hurt!

I listen to conservative radio talk show host Dennis Prager whenever possible. At one time he recommended not using the term Trillion. Rather, use One Thousand Billion. Four Trillion doesn't sound as bad as Four Thousand Billion.
