How much actual mileage improvement have those of you that have installed the water/meth gotten.

I was also wondering if the Snow or Coolingmist MPG max systems were worth the extra money

... . I'm waiting to hear what others have to say, too. I would like to hear real-world numbers over time driven. Anybody?

There are quite a few running water/water,menthanol on their trucks.

Did a a few searches but did not find anything on MPG with water or water/menthanol injections system but there were threads on them.

Water injections is used to bring down the egts and water/menthanol is to cool egts and add HP. So it mite increase mpg I read where adding propane would increase hp and mpg but also higher egts.

I did a search as well with the same results. I am pretty confident that it would lower my egts but was wondering what the mileage benefits where before dumping the cash. I looked at the Propane a while back but it is the same price as diesel out here so what you save in diesel would be offset by the cost of propane. And with as much off-road driving as I do I would rather have a leaking water tank than a leaking propane tank especially when I am down in Baja in the middle of nowhere.

I figured there would be a lot more people running the water/meth injection.

I am going to run my truck up to a shop out of state this weekend to try and figure out this 12mpg crap once and for all.

Changing the subject on ya, I have the same set up as you do. Same turbo with DDP stg 2 injectors. It takes forever to lite the turbo, and high egt. Are you having the same problem? And what type of 4inch lift do you have?

Yes and I hate it. It won't light until after 1500rpm, gets crap mileage and the egts are barely managable with my 4500# 5th wheel behind it. I am going to take it to a shop on Thursday and swap the injectors out and trow int on the dyno to see what kinds of changes we can make. If we find a fix for it I will let you know.

My truck is at ATS in Denver now, I spoke with the shop Forman about ten min ago. He was trying to be nice about it, but in short he told me the turbo was two large for everyday driving with the limited amount of air that the 12valve head could flow. So I said the HE'LL with it and just bought their twins 3000 over 5000 turbos. He went into more depth but all in all the turned up 12 valve daily driver lives and dies with twins. Hope it works.

Forgot to answer you. The lift is a skyjacker which was on it when I got it. I originally was going to change it but it has been rock solid and I have abused the heck out of it hunting and chasing for our off-road race team.

I have a 12 housing on the turbo right now and it didn't help. I am probably going to catch hell for saying this but I have been told by a few very reputable sources that the early DDP injectors had some problems with there seats due to the exdrude hone process. I hear they have gotten better but if you had the earlier ones they could dribble past the seats and cause high egt's and poor mileage. We should not need twins at the power levels we are at but I sure wouldn't turn them down if I had the extra money laying around

Thanks for the info. A few things I left out are the 14 housing, I had thought about changing to a 12 though. Egt's were so bad I could't pull my 3500 lb bumper pull (AT ALL). The DDP injectors are only a few months old. I should have an answer from ATS tomorrow as far as dyno runs and information on the twins. I am really disappointed with II, feel I was really misled on the turbo I needed for my mods and application. I will re post info for ya when I get it. Thanks for the help

Thanks

I felt the same way at first but then I realized they sell all different sizes of turbos including twins and the smaller turbos are really not much cheaper than the ones we bought. They have put turbos on a lot of different trucks and should know what works for a given combo and there would be no advantage for them to sell us the wrong turbo. I have talked to the owner on the phone many times and he seems very helpful. One thing he convinced me to do (which at the time I thought was bull crap) was to switch my intake from an AFE stage 1 to an AFE stage 2. I didn't think I could possibly be reaching the limit of the stage 1 but when I put the new kit on it stopped the surging above 40# pulling a grade.

Myolddodge, I had my dep injectors flow tested and they varied from 40-46 between injectors. I swapped in a new set off cummins 300 injectors and it made a world of difference. They are only rated at 15hp over the ddp injectors I had but I picked up 127hp and almost 300lb/ft of torque on the dyno. I have not towed yet and we had a nasty head wind all the way home so mileage test wasn't really possible. I did pick up 1/2mpg even with the 40mph head wind though.

Thats a huge improvement!!!! Please let me know how the new injectors work out, mpg, egt's and overall performance. I had twins installed and im still not pleased with the way they spool up. I cant seem to get them lit untill around 2000rpm. Nothing but black smoke and High egt's until i hit at least 2000rpm. I must have something that's not right. Just cant seem to figure it out on my own.

Thanks for the information

It will be a while before a highway trip to check mpg but ir spools to 10psi at around 1300 and then stops climbing until 1500rpm where it slams from 10psi to 42psi like a rocket. I have noticed alot of improvement all around but the low rpm around town stuff is the most drastic improvement. Driving home the egts were about the same but with he headwind it is hard to say if that is accurate. I have a lot more usable power on the highway as well. Definitely worth the time and money to have the injectors checked and swapped. 2000rpm for spool up is way to high something is definitely wrong
