Hi don't know if this is the right place for this question. but i have amsoil in my truck and just wanted to change the filter and wonderd how much oil i would loose and have to put back in. Because all i have is a half gallon, I didn't want to get all done and i would need another half gallon any help would be great thanks :)

I had to do the same ( Filter change only ) once. When I took the old filter off, I noted how high the oil was in the filter. I then filled the new filter to the same level. Remember, you have to give the new oil some time to be absorbed into the filter elements. From what I remember, when I checked my oil level after I ran the engine, she was still on full. No extra oil was needed at that point.

Oil Filter Capacity is one quart. I spin off the old filter, fill the new one with one quart of Amsoil and screw it onto the filter head, job done.

I change oil and filter every 10k which is 10quarts in the pan, one in the filter. Every 5k I change filter only and it's one quart in the filter.

There seems to be slightly less than one full quart in the old filter when I take it out, but it's hard to tell because some is absorbed in the filter media.

Hope that helps.

Tim
