How much hp/tq would be need to put an 03/04 2500 cummins into the low to mid 13's? What type of mods would be required and are they available yet? Is this possible while maintaining streetability?

Depends on weight and transmission. With a properly built auto (because even the 48RE won't take the power needed to go low 13's), and a 6500# truck, ~550hp is required. More weight means more power needed.

Unfortunately, currently about the max of available retail products will yield around 500rwhp only. With the upcoming Edge pulse/timing box, we should be at or near the 600hp mark, but the turbo to take 600hp will be different than what we currently have for 500hp.

How much power needed

I have an 03 qaud cab long bed 4X4 with a toolbox/fueltank in the bed, the truck weighs 7800 pounds with me in it. I've never had the truck dynoed but I have run one 13. 545 and have run several 13. 7's and 13. 8's. I have a set of injectors in it with a bullydog box and a KSB1 turbo that has plenty of room for more fuel. I to am unpatiently waiting for the new Edge box. Any more power than this seems to be a problem because it seems the computer wants to cut back fuel even with the Bullydog box that is suppose to be fooling computer it will still set codes. Hopefully someone smarter than me will get this figured out soon. Hope this helps.

I am wondering if Dodge wised up and made the ECM a little smarter this time to where it can cross-check parameters and if they don't add up, defuels or throws a code? Like more demand for fuel but it's only seeing 25psi boost because of the fooler? Just a thought I guess.

who do you reccommend for a built auto... and about how much do they run? will they actually last a while or will they need to be rebuilt often? i just have had really bad luck with autos and thats why i was leaning toward a stick... but this could change my mind.

If you tow more than 50% of the time, go with the stick and suffer at the drag strip. If it's a play truck, the auto is nice for going fast. We exclusively use the DTT stuff here at Diesel Dynamics, but that is our personal preference after years of seeing what was out there. DTT is what we used to go into the 11's with our truck back in May of 2002.

you need a pusher pump and larger injector lines you are running out of fuel call DD

11's!!:--) ... that is awsome. I would love to go that fast eventually:cool: . What mods did you do (i know its not an 03 but will give me an idea what it takes). Have you had it dynoed? Is it at all streetable? Sorry for all of the ?s but that is bad a$$!
